Hi,

there are several threads about the new B&O product launches, so I like to share the information which I got. B&O Germany conducted, as already known, this week their dealer meeting in Munich. I was today verbally invited from my dealer to participate in the german B&O customer event which will held at the local dealerships at 25th October 2012.

He was excited about the presentation, because

1) it must have been an impressive one, and

2) the stuff presented was "really really spectacular", in his words.

Here we go:

1) Beovision 11: Beovision 10 external Chassis, V1 internal technology. Comprising triple tuner, 6x HDMI, 500GB internal HDD, some RJ 45 fittings (forgot the number, sorry), 10 speaker connection capability with separate steering possibility, antireflex, 3D, web access.

A motorised, 90 degree capable wall bracket is optional.

The RJ 45 fitting and cable integrates Master Link and LAN! So, the Beovision 11 can be integrated in a existing Master Link system and access the home network. The possibility of not only multi room but multi source playing will be given at a later stage (I can´t remember well, if it will be already possible with this launch).

Optical difference to Beovision 10 will be the plain border of the antireflex with the aluminium frame.

Available sizes and prizes for Germany are:

BV 11-40     € 6.000,00,

BV 11-46     € 7.500,00,

BV 11-55     € 9.950,00 (hope I remember this one correct, might differ a bit).

So, Beovision 11 is compared to Beovision 10 approximately € 500,00 cheaper, comprising a lot more features as series version.

2) BeoPlay A9: No details, only that it will be audio, really spectacular. It will be "uncovered" by B&O.

3) Satellite Subwoofer system: Active sub, 4 satellites, the amps for the satellites will be in the sub (so you will not be able to purchase the sub separately from the speakers or use the speakers without the sub. Sub design will be cylindric, I personally have the picture of a Beovox Cona with smalle diameter and more tallness. Satellite design will be like the Beolab 3 floorstands, the speaker size my dealer described by showing an oval from approximately 15 cm diameter, coming with textile frets, available in 12 colours as of March 2013 (Germany). Price should be "very interesting".

Innovation: The system will be open to be connected to non-B&O music systems!

I ask him about the sound and he confirmed that the sound will be superb, really B&O (unlike Beolab 4 or Bose).

He set me on fire, to come and see the  new products (the information surely was meant to do that), so I will try to be there at the 25th if I can make it (and I will try!). Thumbs up for B&O if this will become reality Yes - thumbs up.

Kind regards,

Rolf

I ve just got back from staying in a very nice villa in Thailand which happened to have Bose surround sound in every room ( which the sound was superb on, I actually started thinking where I could put one in my house). And it got me thinking why bang and olufsen don't make a high end surround sound and sub as an all in one package. Which can used with any television. Now it seems (by what you have just mentioned with the satalitte speakers) that they are doing exactly that.

I wonder what the price will be? I'm excited but you say march 2013?

Sounds really exciting guys!  Yes Martin, I had a pair of Bose Acoustimass 5 speakers a while back. Strong little performers - bullet proof! Definitely my favourite speakers so far! :et's hope these lil B&Os have a lively sound :)

Wow with the up coming products soon to be announced B&0 seem to be taking things in a positive direction the specs of the bv11 sound amazing, but my main call of interest is the new satellite subwoofer system.

Yes, 2013 according to my dealer. Reviewing our talk he could have told me March or May, I´m struggling a bit to remember. He did not mention a price or price range, just as I wrote it. I think he knew something about it, but was not willing to talk about. Making a guess: In Germany is actually a special offer out, buying 4 Beolab 3, getting one Beolab 11 included. Not having the pricelist in mind, guessing that this will cost then around € 7.000,00. Assuming that the speaker set will be positioned underneath the Beolab 3, it will be available on a lower price then the mentioned combo offer.

My apologies Embarrassed, I really didn´t mean to start the Bose discussion in this thread Devil.

I guess, a lot of B&O (potential) customers, if not expecting, at least have been waiting for such an offer. And I find it very interesting and consequent to open it up for other systems.

Kind regards,

Rolf

During my 18 yrs in the world of B&O (including almost a decade in a high street solus environment),  probably the most asked for product (apart from ipods and iphones, obviously) when people just wandered in with no real intention to buy was .... a subwoofer & speaker system.

This style of speaker set up has been so ubiquitous since the mid 90's, particularly as most TV speakers are truly awful,  that it has been a massive oversight by Denmark not to offer a decent set of sub/satellites to upgrade the nasty ones people use with PC's/TV's.

I bored staff at B&O UK rigid with repeated requests for such a system - suitable to slot into a multibrand TV or PC system, it is the obvious "way in" to many homes.... upgrade the speakers on your XXXX  TV ( people know sound  is what B&O have done so well for so long, and just expected a solution)  and then, when the time comes, they would be more likely to consider a beovision.

Exciting news, I hope it is great.   Price will be interesting - to be a "mass-market" tempter, and compete with/better the various packages around will be a challenge - People will consider an upgrade when it is priced just above the alternatives, but not when it is two or three times the price.

There have been various items in last 10 years that, in theory, had broad appeal - mp3 players, phones, PC speakers and so on ... but the price multiple above other brands (apple/sony/philips/bose) simply ruled most them out, and the products failed to sell in quantity, which was a shame and a missed opportunity that won't return in those sectors.

eg - Mr Average Buyer has  a decent laptop or PC for home use (no apple v PC debate please), want some good speakers and pop into the local B&O shop, not realising the "offering"  is a pair of almost £1000 speakers.

B&O "Yes, we have these, Beolab4PC speakers, I will play them for you"

MR A "But they are actually more expensive than my new computer!!"

B&O "Yes, well, they are our cheapest model, based on these other dearer speakers but are specifically designed to work with computers/ipods etc"

Mr A, "So, next year, I can't buy the nice audio system on the wall and plug it in to these pc-only versions?"

B&O "Well, no.  But if you buy the full spec Beolab 4 version now, you can do that, and they sound the same"

Mr A  "Bye"  .... and  off he/she  goes to spend several hundred pounds elsewhere, lost to the brand for another few years.

BeoPlay looks like it can and will address this issue for B&O... Smile

When the expected Apple iTV arrives, there will be a massive market for such a B&O-speakersystem Cake

Mr Anderson, yes that is really great news if true - WOW!!!

Folkdeejay, I totally agree with you. The satellites and sub have certainly taken A LONG time to come from B&O. My parents bought the BOSE AM5 way back in 1988 - that's 24 years ago!!! As I wrote else where, apart from iPhone docks, all young dudes are wanting are these kind of speakers to plug into their laptops etc. This is why TECHNICS (the most respected hifi brand in my opinion price/performance/longivity/customer service) pulled out of the market and left it o Panasonic as they argued that the only hifi product that now sells is the AV Cinema set up etc.

Exciting times :)
