Hello. I'm a freshman to B&O.

In my newly acquired Beogram 5500 (Type 4950) the turntable hangs down on the front right side - so the record grinds on the chassis. Below, I have turned out the 3 transport locks completely.

On the left rear, the player seems to be rather firm; not swinging up and down so much (compared to the rest). At the right front it moves very strongly (vertically) and hangs down significantly in the resting position. Also, I have removed the turntable and the underlying cast turntable with the drive belt - I can not see any mistake.

Is there a suspension defect?

What can I do?

Who can help me?

Thank you

The first thing I would check is that there is nothing  wedged between the sprung chassis and the base plate of the deck.

I have found several old cartridges under there on various B&O type 59xx decks, over the years.

Regards Graham

Dear Friend,

I have solved the problem.

One of the spings to hold the case did not have enough tension; I screwed in the appropiate srew to put more tension on the spring.

Now the table is in the horizontal.

Thanks.
