I recently purchased a Beomaster 7000 (minus Beolink 7000) and I'm having no luck getting the tuner to work. I've done some recapping on a Beomaster 5000 and Beogram 4004 with great results but the tuner section is beyond my capabilities.
I'm using a Beo 6 to do the tuning by using the Beo 4 commands to choose a station and that appears to work: The display show "F", followed by the numbers as I type them in so I believe it is accepting the command but I only hear static. I can occasionally get a quick bit of sound as I tune to a new station but it quickly goes to static. All the preset stations are static only as well. Are there any recommended checks I could run on the tuner to help diagnose? I don't have an oscilloscope or anything beyond a multimeter so I'm wondering if there is a common fail point?
Also the TV/AUX connection sounds bad, no static but the sound is very faint. Is there something different about this connection from the others? I'm using a DIN5 to minijack for testing the unit and listening over headphones. I'm guessing the pinout is different? I want to use this as an output to a masterlink converter and send audio to another room. All other inputs are working fine though

Are you sure that your DIN5 to minijack cable is an output rather than an input? The L/R pins of the minijack should be connected to pins 1 and 4 of the DIN, in order for it to work.
I am slightly confused by your 'all other inputs are working' comment - do you mean that other DINs (TAPE 1 and 2) are working as outputs?
Have you tried the headphone socket?

For all my listening so far I've used the headphone socket on the Beomaster 7000. I have some Speakerlink cable on order from Sounds Heavenly for connecting to some Penta mk 1s but for now I'm just listening on headphones.
For testing the inputs (CD, TAPE1, TAPE2, PHONO, TV/AUX) I have a minijack to 5 pin Din I'm using to connect to a source (portable cd player or iphone) to verify the inputs are ok. Eventually I plan to connect a CD 7000 and my Beogram 4004 as sources. The only input (other than the radio) I'm having having trouble with is the TV/AUX connection.
Here is where I'm confused on the TV/AUX connection: As I understand it was originally for connecting to a MX3500 TV. This was to allow the sound from the TV to be played through the audio system. But did it also allow for audio inputs from the Beomaster to be played through the TV speakers? That would mean it has 2 way connectivity.
The TV/AUX connection is also used to connect to a Beolink Converter (1611) for use in a Masterlink system. I had intended to do this and use the Beomaster 7000 as an audio master in a masterlink system, but maybe that was a wrong assumption. Maybe the Beolink converter in this case is only 1 way and the Beomaster can only receive audio over the masterlink system, essentially becoming a link room?
TV/AUX is on a different Datalink bus, but other than that, it should behave exactly the same as the tape connections - both in & out.
If TP1 and TP2 work normally with your cable, I suppose there must be some internal problem in the Beomaster. The simplest case might be cracked solders, if somebody has yanked on the cable in the past.

Yeah, now that you've said it I realize my mistake. It's been a long time since I've thought about how to hook up a tape deck. I'll check the board this weekend to see if the AUX connection joints are cracked.
I got a closer look at the tuner board and found some cracked traces around were one of the mounting bolts goes through the board. It looks like some pressure was applied to the end of the board and cracked them, I will try to repair them this weekend and hopefully that will fix it.
BTW, are there any Beo4 command sequences to select the AM band or tune to an AM station? I've only found the FM command sequence. Is there a seek function as well (both AM and FM)?
So I did some more troubleshooting on the TV/Aux connection on the BM7000 and found that the ground path was disconnected between the female connector on the and the system ground. The shell of the male din connector thus wasn't connecting to the system ground and so it was floating and the L+R channels would be faint or washed out sounding.
Does anyone sell a kit to recap a BM7000?

For cap kits, contact member Dillen. My old BM6500 thread might also be helpful - you will have a different CPU module and of course the additional RDS module next to it. Otherwise they are almost identical.

One question I have is on the 5V Power supply: how is the voltage adjusted?
In the service manual and it says to short circuit or disconnect 2J38 and 2J43 to set the voltage. On my BM 7000 2J38 is intact and 2J43 is cut. How does one adjust the voltage? Is there a pot I'm missing?
When I measure the voltage on P14 from pins 2 and 5 it has 8.26V so it's way high if I'm reading the manual right.
No load current was a bit high too (12.3V) so I brought that down easy enough but the 5V supply has me stumped.

Nobody responded to this part of your question, so here's my amateur **guess** (because I don't own a Beo4):
The AM/FM is a single on-screen button on my BeoLink 7000. That means it's a shift/toggle, to be used *while* tuning. On my BeoLink 1000 substituting, therefore I press: RADIO, then GOTO to start tuning directly, but before entering numbers, press TURN to toggle AM/FM.
Here's the guessing part: The Beo4 <=> BeoLink charts on the board here don't list this button. But TURN is listed in the Beo4 "Lexicon of Extra Buttons", so presumably you can Add? it. Oddly though, the Lexicon also says "Press the centre button". One way or the other, you should be able to access the function of TURN.
Yes, there is a seek function in the BeoMaster 7000, which is activated by on-screen buttons <SEARCH and SEARCH> on the BeoLink 7000. On the BeoLink 1000 it's < and >, after GOTO. So presumably on the Beo4 it's ^ and v after you enter tuning mode?

Do you mean between P14-2 and 5? 14-2 is the unregulated 13V supply. Measured against -5 that should indeed show 8something volts. If the regulated 5V line actually was that high, most of the CPU module would probably be toast already.
Those jumpers were cut at the factory as a fine adjustment. There should never be any need to touch those unless you have replaced most of the regulating circuit.
I added the Turn command to the Beo 6 and it worked like a charm to get to the AM band. Front display switches from F to A. Seek function I'll try in a bit. I purchased an ESR meter and started going through the capacitors
