Don't know :) I have a beosystem 3 linked to 2 x 8000, 2 x 6000 and 2 x 4000 and I intend to buy a beosound 9000, so I am looking to the posibility to use my beolabs for bepsound 9000.
What do I need?
If your BeoSystem 3 has a masterlink socket then it will connect with the BeoSound 9000. All you need is the BeoSound 9000 and a masterlink cable the length you require.
Leave all speaker connections as they are and the BeoSond 9000 will play via your Beosystem 3. The BeoSound will automatically set to the correct option (if no speakers are connected it will set to an option) and you will need to look in your manual and set the correct option for your BeoSystem 3.
Stoobie
PS Here are the options from the user manual (imagine a BS9000 as opposed the the one shown)
Thanks Stoobietoo,
I looked in beosound 9000 manual and I saw it has also an digital out socket ( coaxial). So I'll have 2 choices: masterlink or digital out and I'll have to set it on option 0.
I'll also ask my B&O dealer about it. I hoped that there are members with beosund 9000 conected to beosystem :(
Another question (poll): how do you like a BS 9000:
- stand
- wall-horizontal
- wall-vertical
- table ( flat) ?
And last one: can somebody please explain me what N music and N radio means? It refers to the ability to read a mp3/flac disc and DAB radio?
Thank you!
liviu_o:So I'll have 2 choices: masterlink or digital out
The only choice you have is to use Masterlink. The digital out is expected to be used with speakers accepting digital in.
N.Music and N.Radio are sources that can be uses together with BeoMedia1 or BeoMaster5, which store your digital music library and allow access to internet radio.
hfat
Hfat,
why do you think that I cannot connect digital out to digital in ( coaxial) of my beosystem?
Can you please explain more about N music? What can I do exactly?
If you don't use masterlink. You will have no controll over beo4.
Martin, I am more and more confused. Beo 4 control both beosund 9000 and beosystem 3. Either way I can control or the source (BS 9000) or the receiver ( BS3).
At least that's what I "dream on".
Tell me if am I worng.
Any details about N music?
Sorry i should have explained clearer. The illustration stoobie too shown you. Which shows your beosound9000 in option 0. Option 0 always means no ir reception. So you will have no controll over your bs9000.
If connected to your bs3 via masterlink you will then be able to controll your bs9000 through the ir (infrared receiver) on the bs3. For example volume controll skipping tracks etc.
If connected via digital out although I am unsure whether this can be done. You would have the bs9000 on a different option which can still receive ir.
I connected my bs9000 to a beolab 3500 when pressing volume up they would both go up and when pressing skip track it would do it twice. Very annoying. I then changed the option setting so now I have to press link before the bl3500 receives a command
Ive just checked and it does have master link so masterInk would be your best option. It should work perfect
liviu_o: why do you think that I cannot connect digital out to digital in ( coaxial) of my beosystem?
because the digital in on beosystem are connected to BS3 video sources and cannot be used for audio input.
Hfat and Martin
thank you! It seems that masterlink will be the solution.
What about the position? SOmebody told me that optic mechanism problems occurs more frequent when it stays vertically.
Anybody has experience with that?
What's the optic mechanism problem? I have mine on the vertical stand and have never experienced any problems. There is some arrows on the back you have to turn with a special key depending which way you have it. Hope that helps
Dust and dirt damaging the optic/laser part.
I am worried because as a discountinued item it will be harder and harder to service it.
Anyway it's beauty is beyond these "small" problems:)

Yes - no problems if you clean the INNER side of the glass lid and the 2 little acrylic pegs (witch are an IR sensor barrier to protect your fingers) regularly.
