Beocord 1100 pause button issue

New to this forum and have an issue with a beocord 1100 tape deck where the pause button is mechanically stuck in the on position. The beocord was passed onto me and it is sentimental so would appreciate anyone’s advice on what the issue may be or if anyone has experienced something similar?

Is that the cassette or the open reel version?

I forgot to mention it’s the tape cassette version!
