4th Prize - Boxed Vintage U70 Headphones

In fourth we have another vintage rarity in the form of a near-mint pair of classic U70 Headphones. Hard enough to find in this condition, but what about if they're in their original box? Yes - very, very hard to find.. but at BeoWorld we scour the planet for things we know you'd love to own in your collection, with these beautiful pair of classic headphones being one of them. Take yourself back to the Jensen era by putting on your favourite 80's CD and styling yourself some 'big hair' (assuming you've got some left..). All yours if you win 6th this month!

The Winner is...

Mr C. Roschmann (beoandy) from Vienna, Austria

Jolly well done to you - happy listening.

WOW! my first prize! thank you! the u70 is a real classic collect b&o object! Lets have a Party !!!

Blast, I don't know what day of the week it is let alone the time of month! Congrats to all winners and I'll try to win next months first prize.

If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.

Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but do I need to get in touch to provide my postal address, or will I be contacted?

Oh dear oh dear!

I can't believe what I have just seen! I usually have a look to the member winners, just to see if familiar names appear, I've got many friends here!

But my name?  Embarrassed

I thought this would never happen to me, it was just impossible... and yet!

THANK YOU LEE, I shall treasure these beautiful speakers!

And thanks to everyone else for the congrats, they warm my heart.

Champagne chilling... DrinksDrinks (no, I don't drink Champagne in Martini glasses, nor do I put olives in it! Big Smile)

Cheers!

Oh yes! And very happy to do so! Smile And you can count on my reporting the results!

But tell me Peter, the most recent B&O I have is my Beosystem 5500 (no Beolink on this one).

Will I need special cables then?

You have 3 choices with the 5500:

1. Buy attenuating cables - these have a built in impedance which reduces the output from the amplifier to nearer line level and is what the 6000s will need.

2. Run RCA leads from the pre-amp out sockets to the 6000s. This is actually the same as 1 as this output is derived from the power amplifier but has a large impedance added to it - look at the otherwise useless service manual on site - all 4 pages of it!

3. Run it from the real pre-amp, but this means removing the metal hoops and disconnecting the power amplifier! One would expect this to sound the best but it rather stops you using the amplifier for passive speakers! Most acoustically pleasing but you would have a 5000 if you wanted the best sound! That interestingly has a proper pre-amp output!! Actually belay this - just studied the diagram more and the line in and out socket comes off before the volume control so is therefore not so useful. I should have remembered this as I use this output on a loop through my headphone amplifier! You could use one of those!!

As I recall 5500 doesn't have variable line outs, so you'll need something to drop the speaker level outputs into line level, and connect that to the RCA inputs on the Beolabs. Sounds Heavenly should have them, unless you want to build the adapters yourself Smile

A sweep for Europe, not unlike the Ryder Cup!

Congratulations to all winners.  I completely forgot about the prize draw while working on M70 center project and watching the Ryder Cup.  I'll try to remember next month!

Running out of monthly draws.  Just 3 left before the switch to quarterly, right?

No price draw this month, just quarterly draws?
(the counter says 75 days...)
Was there an info given to all paying members?

I don't think you should have - it was discussed starting in November 2011 in the now archived forum; you will find your own post on page two.

I'm not sure if there was any other official announcement on the final decision, but it seemed to be OK with everybody back then.

That is what I meant, a discussion, ok, but I cannot remember a decision and / or an announcement...

... even  the main site states:

"Gold Membership

The highest level which allows access to all sections on the BeoWorld website PLUS qualifies you for automatic entry every month of your membership into the BeoWorld Monthly Prize Draw where you can win literally thousands of pounds worth of current and vintage B&O."

The site needs updates - there is no monthly price draw (in 2013)...
Several pages refer to the monthly draw.

If people sign-up, pay and don't get their price draw I suppose some will not like it.

Thank you for bring to my attention the fact that some parts of the Beoworld web site had not been updated.

I can confirm that I believe that all parts of the web site which talked about a monthly draw has been replaced with quarterly including the Prize Draw rules.

Apologies for this oversight..

Regards Keith....
