Beocenter 3500 replacement motor

Hi all,

I'm currently having my Mum and Dad's old Beocenter 3500 repaired.  The turntable motor is beyond saving and needs to be replaced.

Two questions:

Does anyone out there know where I might be able to get my hands on one?

Is there any other B&O turntable that is compatible with the BC 3500?  This will broaden my eBay search options.

Beyond saving you say?

Unless you destroyed it yourself, it can be taken apart and repaired. All it needs is a good cleanup and new lubricants.

The Beogram 3000 motor is a direct fit.

The motor is in fact unique to Beocenter 3500 (part# 8400010).
It's a 110V only motor. The Beocenter 3500 mains transformer has a dedicated output for it.

Beogram 3000 uses a 220V motor (part# 8400016) - which doubles as transformer, providing a voltage output for the optional RIAA.

Some mechanical parts are shared though, including bearings etc.

Oh yes, I had forgotten about the 110 V characteristic, sorry. The transformer has a special tap, but wouldn’t it be possible to solder the motor directly to the 240 V winding?

It would. But it wouldn't be a direct replacement.
It could be a problem if the Beocenter needs to be switched to 110-115V (if a voltage selector switch is present).

The fine speed adjustment is different as well (on the side of the Beogram and on top of the Beocenter, though only of interest if
the whole assy is to be replaced rather than "just" the motor.

But these motors rarely fail in any other way than seized spindles (dry lubricants).
Any replacement motor would need the same treatment. 

- Unless, as you say, it experienced damage from "unnatural" causes, in which case we would need more info to give proper advice.

So beyond saving - it's not me who's fixing it, it's my local repair guy.  He said it was cactus.  And from a previous conversation, he knows the lubricants is the common problem (he does repair a lot of B&O gear).  I've emailed to check whether he's still got it, maybe I can send it to someone else to take a look at.

The Beogram 3000 fix sounds like there's a bit more complexity involved, I'll aim for the simples solution!

Any tips on where to keep an eye out for a replacement?  Aside from eBay?
