Hi, just bought a beocenter 4600, the record player works fine, but as mentioned on here the arm does not lift before returning home, how do i remove the platter to get to the lift pin ? Also the cassette player turns but i have no sound any ideas? The radio works fine just need to free up some of the buttons. Any help with any of this will be much appreciated
Welcome to Beoworld !
You will have to lift off the complete turntable section from the Beocenter. That's the whole top - less the cassette section.
The cassette sound problem could be caused by one or more pushbuttons stuck mid-cycle.

Hi there, the turntable is removed very easily once you slide off the lid, it's only a couple of screws at the rear, the two multi pin connections come apart easily too, so you can remove it completely from the unit, sadly I have done this many times in an attempt to free the damper unit but to no avail
i think once it's been siezed up for many years it's not possible to free it but you may be lucky so should at least try, it's a shame because my 4600 is in beautiful condition and looks great, I still use the turntable but have to manually put the stylus down and remove it before the record ends which is not the best way to enjoy your vinyl
best of luck and let us know how you get on
Thanks Martin, do you know of any videos showing this being done? if not i might do one myself to help others
Thanks for the advice

Heat the brass lifting pin a bit with a soldering iron to losen the hard oil.
Hi Martin, I think the guy a few weeks ago who was having the same difficulties did that and it made no difference
I have never seen one that wouldn't budge.Perhaps yours was "serviced" by someone else, using glue or whatever for oil...Take it apart as much as you can and let me know what parts you need.
Thank you Martin
Hi all, thanks for the advice so far but just a quick update, when i start the album the arm goes to the start of the vinyl and drops down and plays fine at the end of the album the arm just skates across the album to its home position then raises, does this mean the lifting pin is working ok, just at the wrong time. Thanks in advance
Just a quick update on the turntable lift pin, when playing a vinyl, the arm moves across to the start and lowers onto the record, plays really well by the way, at the end the arm skates across the top of the vinyl to its home position, THEN RAISES !!! does this mean the lift pin is ok just activated at the wrong time. Thanks in advance Simon
Typical symptom of lubricants starting to get tough and hard.
The tonearm is forced down by the mech. and comes back on by spring tension - only too slowly when the lubricants are hard.
Hi, thanks for all the advice, I am struggling to remove the top aluminium section around the platter, do i need to remove any of the screws on the underside of the unit?
Thanks Simon
It's shown in the servicemanual. Two screws at the rear, from below, one each side if memory serves.
