I was just told today BeoSound Moment is discontinue, is it true or not? Is it worth buying it now?

If true, I’m more curious about a replacement that has solved and learned from the Moment’s shortcomings.

Strange. I still have communication with and receive beta updates from the development team.

Three years in January.

For mainstream companies it would have been culled already but I did expect it to be around longer than 3 years. Perhaps they have a better replacement, not sure what that would be....not many options really these days with everything computerised.

Agree,

Hopefully they do a repackaging of the same concept that I think is working fine now after the latest updates updates. I´m on the 2.2.17477 build on Soundheart and 2.2.0.3782 build on Jukebox (all Beta).

So an official 2.2 build should be released sometime guess.

Would be nice to be able to keep the Soundheart and maybe just upgrade the Jukebox to new design / OLED screen etc.

Don't we quite already have that? I don't see a need for an argument over which is better. It's just nice to have alternatives in the product portfolio.

that is a quick EOL! Just now the Moment is at his best. Really enjoy the device and hope they will update it with a higher res screen. Concept is unique and I like to use it instead of my phone.

It was only announced to dealers today Sad, we thought it would go EOL in April 2018 but due to supply chain it’s ended sooner than anticipated. Like others have said the Moment is now at its best! Smile

Most likely the screen is no long available. B&O probably thinks the Core is their future.  No need to make a product with a screen when everyone has one or two of their own ( phone or tablet ).   The future is more in the apps not products like the Moment.

well i hope they keep Lyle and move him on to a new project.

As the face of B&O for many of us that is clear and considered and committed to ensure the product evolved over its' short life.

My Moment has served me well, and still do, after the recent overhaul of the software.

I like the concept of having something else than my phone to guide my musical experience.

Hope B&O will come up with a new concept with something tactile to touch.

I believe dealers have already seen internal communication from B&O that Voice Integration / Assistants is going to be the focus for control going forward.

Using the voice to interact is a possibility - you can already use it now to control your B&O stuff and content....

....if you limit yourself to Chromecasting.

It sure is very hyped nowadays. But in the end - will it be sinfull as a universal way of interacting with devices/all devices/in any situation?

I am not sure for my part. My own experiments with Google Home (the new Mini) wasn’t quite, what I had expected - rather disappointing.

But ——- voice recognition/assistance will be one of the ways, we will interact - maybe in connection with ‘old-school’ tactile interaction.

We’ll see, what the industry offers.....when the hype has gone.

I can imagine them adding this functionality to BeoPlay, too. Question is, what do they choose? Siri, Alexa, Google Voice?

Voice control is fine when you know exactly what you want. But if you want to “browse” and get served a number of alternatives to choose from it’s not that easy. I very much enjoy the Moment way of searching for music.

I hope that despite the Moment being EOL, B&O still pushes out at least one more software update to bring FLAC support for Deezer (and I’m hoping for Spotify connect support too), which are functionalities that have been to my understanding been tested in beta form.

I would have really loved to see the Moment evolve for better use in a multi room setup, but I don’t think it’ll happen now.

I was holding out on buying two more, if Spotify connect and better multiroom support were added, but I guess that’ll never come to fruition.

What kind of improved multiroom are you looking for? My Moment is perfect in my Multiroom setup.

I like the concept very much, the Moment gives me all music I want during the full day, Pattern Play, Moodwheel and the Deezer / DLNA serves me quite well. My only wish would be to make more playlists directly on the Moment.

I actually feel sad that the Moment is going EOL, not worthy B&O that it is ended in such short time, especially when the software is now very good.

For me a Moment mkII or comparable concept would be a proof of life for a solid strategical direction of the company as a full high-end AV manufacturer. The other messages on the forum regarding the future of B&O are giving me the shivers. Hopefully we are all wrong and the company will prosper with newly developed or improved products such as the BL3, BS Moment, BV11/14 and so on.

No plans for anything to replace the Moment  - if you want a B&O audio system that you can connect speakers to, it's Core or nothing.

The chances of B&O's fantastic software developer's perfecting their own voice command infrastructure is nearly zero. But, yes, I bet they give it a go. Then spend 3 years fixing it, before scrapping the idea and switching to Alexa.

from what i understand, they will be using Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant etc......which one (s?) is dont know... nor how they implement it....i think the idea is that newly released hardware will have Voice built in, which will probably mean older products will exist outside that Voice loop, and need to rely on app control....things are moving fast tech wise, so i think we all have to accept that legacy products cant reasonably travel alongside the new - i dont necessarily blame B&O for that.

But anyway, i'm not bothered by Voice control, despite all the attention it gets - personally i find it a bit silly, and doesn't always work, but maybe thats just me.  I'm just hoping that the app development doesn't grind to a halt, though my suspicion (from what my dealer explained) is that development resources will soon be directed towards the new Voice path.

I have a multiroom Network Link (NL) system including 15 zones comprised of a number of Essence mk2s, Beosound 35s, Beoplay M5, and Avants, etc. I would absolutely love the ability to carry the jukebox with me and easily use it in whatever room I happen to be in.  While I could use the B&O app on my phone, I actually like using the jukebox and wish it had a menu button for a submenu to select the system in my multiroom setup the Moment is being output to as opposed to being limited to the Avant my moment is linked to.  I also wish the Moment's unique features (pattern play and moodwheel) were able to be pulled into the B&O app and usable in my multiroom system via the B&O app/Moment combination. I have no delusions that these capabilities would ever be added at this point, but I would love it if they were.

I won't miss the Moment - never been a great seller for me, but that may be because most people don't actually need it, and we don't push products that aren't needed - Ipad + Core, works well for most customers. On the other hand we are second only to Harrods for BeoSound 2 sales, probably the best selling product in our store...

Agreed, since the launch of the Core we have sold 10-1, so we look like we are selling what the public now want...
