Seems that the main reason for EOL of the BS Moment is, that some parts used for it aren’t available anymore.

That is a strange reason I would say.

Can´t be that magic things, that cannot be replaced by something else.

If it was the screen, its just to fit another screen in a maybe slightly redesigned Jukebox.

Reason must be something else. Probably that it did not sell.

My dealer told me, that he has sold quite a few (how many that is, , I don’t know).

He was sad that it is gone, he said.

It has somewhat matured over time - and is the right thing for people who want easy access to ‘music and radio’ - not for the ones, who think that it is a fully fletched multinediaplayer.

True,

I think the problem with Moment was that its not clear to people that they actually need such a product. Its when you have used it a while (with current SW that is) you really see the beauty with Moment.

spot on and that is exactly why the BSM is such a unique concept. Just hope they will launch a similar system. The EOL decision is one I really cannot understand. And lack of parts sounds like “BS”. Hoping for the best, despite all rumors.

Is it just me or are others also feeling that B&O is shifting their line-up way to fast and into misty directions.

What's sad is that the Moment could have been a truly GREAT product if B&O had built upon its potential. Those of us who aren't beta testers STILL haven't seen the 2.2 build even after months and months and have had to live with the frustration of the DLNA re-harvesting bug.

They never added the function of "expand" for multiroom.

Also, it seems that it would have been so easy to have integrated BLGW home control with just an extra tab. Whether people agree that it should include home control, it would have been a nice feature for dealers to show. Not everyone (myself included) has a BeoVision that has a home control overlay. The Moment sitting next to you on an end table next to the sofa or bed would be very accessible. It certainly is for me when playing music. I appreciate the ease of reaching over and having the interface ready and waiting for me. It's so much nicer than having to hunt for a phone or tablet, open the device, open the app, and then navigate. As a tangent, I point out that B&O is really setting itself up for a problem with the new products not accepting IR light and control commands and the music devices not even working with the BeoRemote One BT. Even in LIGHT mode, the Essence remote requires a B&O product to receive the IR command.

Finally, B&O is now without a flagship music player for the first time that I can remember. B&O is known for its beautifully crafted, solid, iconic monolithic music players -- not for an ugly piece of plastic that's meant to be hidden in a cabinet. I'm trying to picture a future of us trying to spot the Core in movies and design magazines! (That was a joke.)

While speaking of missed opportunities, just imagine how amazing it would have be to have had the Beo6 still in production and having 2-way interface with the Moment. The Beo6 could have shown the artists, albums, playlists, and radio stations similarly to how it works with the BeoSound 5.

A bit overkill, since all that is in the Jukebox interface Smile

Au contraire, I am testing the latest Betas for months now and the latest Beta is perfect now - even for the guys who want a fully fletched multimediaplayer. I tested the BSM with minimServer, a NAS and Twonky (running on a macmini) and with the later I enjoy having a expert mode and Deezer flac. I created 256 artist-tiles and the only missing artist-tiles are now from Deezer-content (e.g. Maroon 5).

In the past I was complaining a lot, I loved/hated the device and hoped secretly B&O will finally deliver the software as it is right now with the beta.

In this light, I am really sad, that the BSM is now entering the EOL-stage. I love.my  essence too, but using the BSM over the Julebox feels much better than using my iPhone or iPad.

Cheers Beroli

I stand - somewhat - corrected, then.

Glad that you and the Moment get along....after all these troubles.

Please no tablet!

Make a good streamer,navigation from telefoon,ipad

I couldn't disagree more!

To advance tracks on the Moment I just swipe.  From my iPad I have to unlock the screen, open the B&O app, navigate to the correct screen, and then hit the advance button.

To pause the music on the Moment when the phone rings, I just tap.  On my iPhone i have to accept the call, ask the caller to wait, unlock the phone, close the phone app and open the B&O app, navigate to the correct screen, hit pause, then return to my call.

The Moment also has the excellent Mood Wheel which acts like a DJ, bringing new music into my life.  I suppose this ability could be built into a streamer, but that's not currently available.

If I wanted only a streamer controlled by a phone, Amazon, Google, Apple, Sonos, and many other have far less expensive options than B&O.

I agree that voice control is the current battleground, but I think it's a mistake.

Of course it would be great to have both available, but I'll take tactile controls over voice controls.  I don't want to adjust the volume of my movie by yelling at a voice control.  When the phone rings, I prefer to pause my playlist with a physical button rather than a voice command.

The "Wheely" Essence remote is what made me jump into the B&O pool after years of admiration for the brand.  For what I paid for my first Essence + Wheely Remote I could buy enough Amazon Echo Dots to put one in every room of my house.  The tactile control of the Wheely remote versus the voice control of the Echo Dot is so much better expereince that I'm willing to spend the significant extra money on the B&O gear.

I really hope B&O recognizes that user interface is the ONLY advantage they have over the cheap streamers that are priced at 1/10 of B&O's offering.  If not, they will not last much longer.

I design electronics for a living, and lack of parts is most certainly an issue. I suspect that supply chain for the LCD is what killed the product

LCD displays have *incredibly* short lifetimes because of the rapid changes in technology.  A few years ago I was developing a medical device with a 5" LCD touchscreen.  Because medical devices are very expensive to get certified, a long-life display was needed.  To get a 10-year availability commitment from our supplier, we ended up with a $450 screen with a minimum annual commitment of 1,000 units.  A comparable screen without any lifetime commitment would have been around $60, but could easily become unavailable in 6 months or a year.

Totally agree on this. That tactile-ness was B&O's differentiating factor, and now with the Moment EOL, the only "interface" B&O has on their current (non B&O play) devices is the Wheely Remote. It is nice, don't get me wrong, but the "interactivity" of the BS9000, the Magic Open doors of the Century / 3200/400 etc. devices, the controls of the Beosound 5, and even the feel of the slab of aluminum / wood that was the Moment are all the differentiating factors now lost to LCD touchscreens on devices in our pockets.

The more I have clamored for B&O to release another true "music" system, the more I have thought that their business experts have already done the math and that ship has sailed. The small number of folks who would buy such a system would be a net loss for B&O's resource spend.
