So there’s the unpacking, unwrapping, and snapping in ...

What did NOT work was the power on, the flashing light, and the appearance on the BlueTooth list ...

So I think I have a DOA

And yes it’s light

So light that I would almost believe that there is nothing inside !

Back to the shop tomorrow [:\'(]

What are you gonna use it for ?

To replace the Essence which will go to another room.

What I hope to gain is superior sound by using an all optical path for all my streaming sources

Into shop

Shop checks things, no go, knowing other AU adapter plugs have had issues they deconstruct the plug, give it a wiggle, force it back, reconnect .... and voila a white light.

So Home we did trot, did a re-snap-out, re-snap-in, white light, yayyy

BlueTooth search, found BS Core xxxx, Connect, use B&O App, add product, select found BS Core xxxx, rename it, add WiFi and its password, allow google cast, all good

Software auto-updates, reboots, speakers go pop-pop we’re here Big Smile

ooh: next question please

what does the CORE do that the essence doesn't?  Or is it just the better optical?

Surely !

I have no other acquisition plans ...

The open question is “BV or not BV”

Although this afternoon while I was in the queue (Surprise yes a queue in B&O store ! And that include a group of showing a lot of interest in the Shape) I was able to educate myself on the Eclipse’s Deezer App ... and at the same realising how important VOICE has to be for our B&O future (I had not realised how much voice commands and search terms I use on a daily basis)

Anyway the Eclipse 55” is still in the hunt Smile

TBH I don’t know ... I will be relocating the Essence to drive the 6000s in a “new” room.

I prefer the Core as it less obtrusive.

And it has been pumping music for some 3 hours without a glitch.

I am assuming it has more powerful chips given how technology advances.

I have as yet not decide where the wheelie goes - the Core supports pairing - however the best room might be to follow its Essence.

I don’t think the IR eye has support in the Core so Beo remote control is a loss.

Also right now I appear to have a BLC NL/ML issue - no doubt caused by me being super cautious with a mass power down on Friday on account of the (non-eventusting) super-storm warnings.

I made a long post - let’s hope it’s released from mod camp soon.

In short only for the optical.

Good stuff Mr Elephant. I’ll be interested to hear how you get on with the core as I’m thinking about one myself.

You can use a Power Link splitter, like this one: https://www.soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/27-rj45-powerlink-compatible-splitter-new-powerlink-to-two-8-pin-din-powerlink-compatible-sockets.html

I use the splitter cable in various situations.

However the Core’s single output (in 3 flavours, optical, dolls, and pl) is not a problem as BL20s support daisy chaining.

Hi elephant

Thanks for the post and your unpacking.

Hope you are enjoying your new toy. I’ve hooked up my Core to the BeoLab 3s and it sounds great. Have you tried powering the setup down with the speakers yet? Everytime I do so I hear a big pop from the BeoLab 3s if I power down Core first or all three together. Just interested on hearing how people get away from this pop without needing to stagger the BeoLab 3s first then Core Big Smile

Btw on my Core the Chromecast is rock solid but airplay gets quick a few drop outs.

I am used to the pop-pop on the two BL20s - I wouldn’t say its any louder with the Core.

So far I have only used the B&O App to invoke Deezer HiFi ... and maybe one iTunes file via DLNA & PLEX.

I’ll watch out for any Airplay issues !

Here’s a surprise !

Apologise for the lack of depth of field - I’ll explain below ...

Slowly fully integrating the Core

Paired it with my 🍎 watch and the Core’s light turned blue 💡

And the B&O App shows “Playing from Bluetooth” and the track name & artist meta data but no albums art

Surprisingly there seems a heavier than usual bass presence ... need more tests !

However I can't get the BLC NL/ML to integrate ... It's almost as if installing the Core has crippled something.

At first I thought it was my mass power down for the severe storm warning but today I find I can interrogate the BLC's strings ... Except for the detailed settings ! where the busy dial goes round and round Andy round and ....... Any hints / tips / suggestions ?

What was it connected to and how were you using it (Deezer, Spotify, via chrome cast etc)?

Compared to everything else from B&O the Wheelie remotes are relatively affordable - you could certainly get another.  (I have three for my bedroom Essence: once by the bed, one by the door, and one in the bathroom where I have additional speakers.)

Sources: 2x Beosound Moment • 4x Beosound Essence Mk II
Speakers: 3x Beolab 8000 • 2x Beolab 6000 • 2x Beolab 3 • 3x Beolab 2
Integrated:  1x Beosound 2 • 1x Beosound Level • 4x BeoPlay M5 • 1x BeoPlay A6
Control:  16x* Essence Remote  • 1x Beoremote Halo

* Yes, really! 🤦‍♂️

Hi Duels,

Apologies for the late reply.

No I’m currently turning off all three together as I put all three on one power board and just switch off the power board.

Oh well pop pop it is Big Smile
