I do not consider the Core as a Music System, so, at least to me, this is a major event: B&O have dropped their long line of music systems.

The future music provider will be via apps such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music etc and based on platforms provided by Apple, Google or Amazon.

We saw radical changes going from Jensen´s BeoMaster 1900 (provided to me by Lee, still works like new) to Lewis with the BeoSystem 2500 and later the BeoSound 9000, we saw the transformation to digital platforms by BeoMedia 1, BeoSound 5 and BeoSound Moment.

And now: nothing.

... now that 2.2 becomes very interesting, it would have been a pity not to pursue it's software evolution and bug fixes. I personally like this device.

BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1

B&O have confirmed that they will continue "to service the product for all existing customers" - not sure if this goes for spare parts only and/or sw.

According to my knowledge its unlikely that anything will appear in near future (like CES). It will be a long wait.....

Hope I´m wrong.

@koning - the IR functionality was a request from quite a few B1's at the dealer conference, and B&O promised to look into it. Haven't heard anything since, but will check.

There’s all sorts of rumours - screen unavailable, didn’t sell enough, hardware limitations... Does anyone, who works for B&O, know the definite reason for it being discontinued so soon?

.

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.

Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.

I still wonder how people are going with their moments ?

After all Lyle and Co put so much work in to getting this right.

So it seems odd to be pulled into EOL. Makes you think that there must have been a screen exclusivity deal that went pear shaped with the LG announcement.

I bought it only 2 months ago, after it already went EOL. In a mint state, preowned by an elderly couple who mostly used it to listen few radio stations, for 900 EUR which is 150 EUR more than a new Core. I thought it was a good deal as it also has WISA and I am planning to add some WISA speakers.

Although EOL, I am a happy user because: a) I don’t have a physical music repository hence no issues with DLNA, b) by now most software problems of other kind are ironed out, and c) I like MoodWheel and PatternPlay functions just as I thought I will.

Given the option to buy another (one more) preowned unit for 900 EUR again, I would/will if I ever find one.

I’m still happy with mine. I’m now used to its glitches and they no longer prevent me to enjoy the music experience particularly through the MoodWheel. I still have a large and growing collection that the expert mode cope with.

I have now doubled it with a Core to introduce other sound sources capabilities such as non B&O TV, Chromecast or Airplay while maintaining a way to listen to my own collection in case of BS Moment software issue.

I use my TR1 as WISA switch for both the Moment and the Core

huh lol

I thought with the Moment you could airplay?  Or the moment really is a "dumb" terminal and has no "linking" functions?

I like the Core and from what i read it has hi-rez music too.

Lots of other streamers have had Airplay (and AP2 expansion in some cases), though i'm fine with it not being a Moment feature, given the particular design of the Moment.

I'm not changing my Moment for one of these other network streamers, though i did look at other higher end alternatives like the Naim Uniti range, or something else that is Roon compliant. The Roon software looks excellent, and a very decent user experience.

If i spend more of my time listening to music than i do, there are plenty of alternatives - and where the control software is better than the B&O choices, be that the Moment front end or the App.

Its puzzling that if B&O are removing a streaming product, and pointing customers to their phones / tablets as a control point, that the software (App) is so limited compared to Sonos / Bluesound / Roon etc, and unreliable with respect to functionality disappearing (Moment control issues currently).

The app needs to work - and should allow control of Tidal (or others) in addition to local DLNA music. Other companies do it.

I very much echo what other have posted. I enjoy Moment now after all improvements in the software. It covers all my use cases. I´m happy using Deezer HiFi rather than Spotify, so that is no issue. Just hoping that B&O will continue to support it for a long time.

Would be nasty if e.g Deezer would do a change in their backend that Moment needed to adopt to, and there where no developers on Moment...
