Greetings! I'm new to this forum and though I did search for information prior to this post, apologies if I overlooked something obvious.
I have a multi-part question that stems from receiving 4x CX50s and 1x MCL2P* from my mother (post move, as she didn't need the multi-room setup in her new place). I'd like to set up 2 of the CX50s for my A/V setup and the other 2 as studio monitors for doing audio work. No sense wasting good speakers, even though it may be a bit of a "pearls before swine" scenario.
Questions:
1) I was going to pick up 12 of these connectors (I only need 8 but as shipping is $20, might as well grab a few more) and use 4 of them between two of the CX50s and the MCL2P. But how do I bring basic line-level (?) audio from my AV system in via RCA to the amp? Can I just wire up the appropriate DIN connector, whichever that one is, directly to the RCA lines? That seems too easy to be the case and I suspect more work is required.
2) For the amp-less CX50s, are there any solutions for powering them that are well received, or can I go "off the shelf" with whatever and wire the 41529 connectors to basic speaker terminals on whatever amp I select?
Thank you for any advice or suggestions!
*I believe it's a MCL2P but it might be a variant. I do have the MCL2AV around somewhere if needed.
Couple of things - you will need both male and female DIN plugs for the speakers - if you look down the hole in the back of the CX50s, you will notice a male plug at the bottom. The hole is also quite narrow and some plugs do not fit!! B&O would sell you moulded thin plugs on 3m of wire which will definitely work and are good quality.
If you do have an MCL2P, it will simply be a power amplifier and should work as you hope. You will need to make sure you have variable line level from your outputs (i.e. the level is changed by the volume control on the TV)
You can use CX50s with whatever normal amplifier you desire - you certainly do not require a B&O amplifier. They can cope with at least 50W but do remember that these are little speakers and the bass response is poor to say the least.

regarding the connector, I use the sort that you link to but the female one, with my CX100 and they fit, but not with much clearance so be careful what you order.
I know where I have bought them, but the shop seams to only sell the male one now when I checked their web site...
If I understand you correctly in question 1) you wont to use one pair of CX50 with a AV system with amplifier(?) then you just drive the CX50s directly.
in question 2) one could assume you want to use them with a source like a computer/MP3 player, then you have the right output for your MCL2P... at least in terms of sound. to get the auto on/off to on you will need a 5v power supply. I assume Sounds Heavenly (link at bottom of this page) have an appropriate one. correct me if I'm wrong, either regarding interpreting the question or the answer.
and here is the link to the cable...

also some info that might answer your questions regarding the MCL2P
All,
Thank you so much for all the advice! Based on discussions with a coworker/musician/audio-guy, the setup will be mixer (as preamp) --> MCL2P --> 2x CX50 for the "studio" use and the remaining CX50s run into a small receiver (still being sourced). Also, thank you so much for the advice regarding the connectors: it would be doubleplusungood to wait a week for the connectors to arrive, only to realize I needed both genders!
PS: I'm not as concerned about the bass response: as much as I like a bit of *thump* my neighbors would probably prefer I refrained!
Although I almost forgot to add: does anyone know the DIN # for the connector that goes into the amp?
If you refer to the MCL2P as the amp, it is a powerlink socket and that is a 8-pol din, however I'm not sure you will make it work without something similar to the cable I linked to before
