hello all
I am a new member in the forum and i would like to join the comunity of B&O owners
I am interested on buying a second hand Beosound 9000 or Beocenter 2. I will use it for music only and i am wondering which one is better. I don´t know if it is a concern for music quality that the Beocenter 2 has DVD lenses and it is better dedicated mechanisim as in the 9000.
Apart from that, any recomendations on those two or any problems that I may face with them?
thanks everyboddy for your help
Buy the one that you like - that looks best in your eyes. If you just want to listen to music you dont have the need for the BC2, however the BC2 comes in two different types, with DVD or with CD only. If you like to use a cd changer then BS9000 is the right one.. I dont think either one is better.
I have a BC2 and I love it, I think it looks great on my livingroom wall! And I know alot of people here that are as much inlove with their BS9000...
:)
If you only play music, the 9000, has the advantage on the bc2 as you can load 6 cd's in. I had a bs 4 and it drove me nutt's (being used to a 9000) to have to keep changing the cd.
I also understand that the BC2 is a little bit slow when it comes to start-up time. A consequence of the dvd-mech I assumme.
Even if I was building a video system, I would choose the 9000.
Beo4 'til I die!
The BC2 has a much better display if you are using it with N.Music. However I confess to hardly ever using it these days - I mainly use music on my hard disc. If buying now, I would either go for a BS5 or would simply integrate my Mac into the system.

I would go for a BS9000 It's a classic.
Try to find a limited white version...

Anyone got one as of these up and part of a working system ?
I remember Lee mentioning he has one squirreled away......
I must say i do still love my BC2! I still do love the display, which i use all the time, particularly when listening to N.RADIO. It gives me all the track info so that when i really like a track i know who it is- particularly useful for something that really grabs you and you've never heard before!
In reality both the BC2 and BS9000 are classics and look great. You probably can't go wrong with either!!

Beovision 8-40, Beocentre 6-26, Beocentre 2, Beolab 9's, Beogram 7000, Beogram 9500, Beo 5, Beolit 1000, 800, 700, 600, 400, Beocom 6's, Beotalk 1200
I´d go for the BC2 as it gives more options. If you decide later to use it as a DVD player, you already have it. I do have many CDs, but they are all ripped and stored away. So I could not use the BS9000 (which I like design wise) as it was intended to.

Well, owning a Beosound 9000 I'm admittedly biased. While the BC2 does look good and offer some other options like DVD, there's nothing IMO as stunning and gorgeous as a BS9000 mounted on the wall with all the cables hidden (or even on a table). It's less of a piece of audio kit as it is a kinetic light sculpture.
I don't regret buying it even though I mainly listen to my PC connected to it's aux inputs. I still spin a set of CDs now and then, just to listen and watch it work.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Biased ? I have 2..... :-))
I bought a Mk3 BS9000 from someone with a pair of Beolab1. If only for listening to music through your fav CDs and Radio, then go for it. If a BS2 in CD form interests you as far as looks, then it's a design preference issue, personal taste.
Heard yesterday at the B&O dealer that the 9000 is now discontinued! What does that mean to us 9000 owners as far as service parts, etc.?
