Hello all, I recently moved and am evaluating connection options for my BS9000. Would like to bring it up-to-date with streaming capabilities. I contemplated adding a BS Moment but I received feedback that option may not be the best forward-thinking maneuver. Would appreciate some advice regarding connections for a BS9000, BL4000s, and BL2 with a BS Core connection for streaming . . . thank you.

I think it will come down to the simple aux/line in approach.

You probably need one of Steve’s “sounds heavenly” special cables.

But which unit gets to become the primary “go to” unit and there which becomes your primary remote: Beo4 or portable device ? If you could predict how quickly you will embrace streaming you would possibly make different choices !

Hi, I found the Beosound Core a straight forward way to add streaming or music server to your BS9000.  The trick is what the vintage B9000 can accept signal wise.  Remember external inputs to the B9000 have to be fed through the A.Aux socket which are analog as the BS9000 was 1990's technology.  I wanted to integrate streaming from TIDAL along with a Nativ Sound Vita music server (or NAS) into my system while keeping my BS9000 as the centerpiece.  The Core would also work with a conventional NAS server via ethernet and a router.

The easiest way I found after much searching was to then use my tablet (or the Vita server) to stream to the Beosound Core which acts as the digital/analog converter.   Then the Core can connect back to the B9000 with an analog signal from the Core's Powerlink output via an adaptor to the DIN AUX socket.  You could probably get a single integrated cable that goes from RJ45 to DIN input from Sounds Heavenly.

As my Core was based in another room near my router, I connected the Core to the BS9000 via the Powerlink RJ45 output to RCA/phono style plugs that can then be connected to the B9000 via another adaptor going from RCA/phono to the DIN -A.Aux socket.  The distance between the adaptors was done in coax with RCA fittings.   Everything worked like magic.  If you decide to go this route, here are the B&O parts you will need: 1)BeoSound Core; 2)B&O Cable Powerlink RJ45 to RCA Phono 2m long SKU# 6271265 ;3)B&O Adaptor BeoLink Active AUX Input DIN to Phono F SKU# 6270302; 4) Coax with RCA/phono ends.    Positives to this are the connections work for the B9000.  Negatives are the costs for the Core and adaptors.    One other thing that isn't well known about the AUX socket on the B9000 is that it will take stereo input and provide a stereo line out at the same time via other pins in the socket.  I use this feature to provide music from the B9000 to other parts of my house while simultaneously sending in a signal from the core.  This needs a different connector than the one listed above as it needs/has four connections (two in & two out)instead of just two for the stereo into the BS9000.
