Hi there,

New to the forum here. I've recently bought some Beolab 9 speakers and have them connected to my Musical Fidelity A5 preamp. They sound fantastic, and I'm looking to add a good quality turntable as a source.

Looking for any recommendations as to what would be a good match, and how much to spend, I want to make the most of the beolabs sound quality. The phono stage in the musical fidelity preamp is of high quality so it would be just the turntable itself I'm needing.

Any suggestions much appreciated

You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg for a decent turntable. Pro-Ject has a nice selection across the price range. And their reputation is good. Yes, there are many many other companies out there, however, some of the current Pro-Ject line also have the looks to match. Just one opinion here.

I agree with Sal. Unless you particularly like the design of B&O turntables (and of course many of us on this forum do), then you will be better off with either a new Project or Rega. Better off in terms of reliability, (the youngest B&O turntable is 23 years old), and running costs for a new stylus.

Sound like a nice system you have. Looking for a pair of 9s myself!

Cheers

I have a Music Hall which has worked well for me.  At the time of purchase, it was a "value leader", but I do think they got a bit more popular and raised their prices so shop around.  Project and Rega are also good choices.
