Hello out there

Any opinions about the option of using a Beoplay M5 as a speaker for the TV instead of the classic soundbar/sibwoofer kits?

There are a lot of this cheap fairly powerful soundbars with the bluetooth subwoofers.

Samsung for example have options for as low as 250€, which actually are very good and quite powerful when it comes to kick up the Tv experience and shake the room on really loud volumes.

But I was thinking about the option of using the M5 as the only speaker for a tv. Placed in the middle under the TV. Mostly for the great looks but also hopefully satisfaction with the sound.

Anyone whom use it like that?

it has fairly impressive bass sound but surely not comparable to even the cheaper subwoofers with the proper ported box and usually one 8 inch woofer ( in the cheaper options).

would the M5 be a possible replacement?

For dialogue and general sound effects I would believe so, but when it comes to the bass, is it potent enough to at least make a little rumble even though not shaking the floor as these other samsung 8inches subs does?

Opinions or anyone whom actually use one as the main and only setup for movie enjoyment?

looking forward to see what you all have to say😬👍🏻

I have the M5 and I do not think you will be happy using that as a TV speaker.

Have not tried the combination with TV, but I would assume that the dialogue will not be clear enough. I would use the money and buy a soundbar with Sub.

Hi Dan, i've tried using the Beoplay a6 as a alternative for a soundbar but it didn't really work that well for me. However, since then i've been using 2 Beoplay S3's wired as a stereo pair. They really sound amazing with a lot of clarity and base punch. A lot of cables but a cheap solution for a B&O soundbar alternative.
