Dear all,
I want to ask for following setup:
1. connect beolab5 to BV11-55 with powerlink
2. and at the same time, connect beolab5 to Beosound 9000 with Digital SPDIF line
My question is:
Will the beosound 9000 work with the Beolab 5 in such setup? Can the SPDIF line receive the commands from Beo4 like CD2-TRACK2, Radio station1, Volume up / down just like the Beo4 do to the case that the powerlink connect the beosound 9000?
Many thanks and Merry X' mas!
Daniel
I’m a bit out of tune on the old ML stuff but think it goes like this:-
BV11 To network LAN.
LAN to a MLNL Converter
MLNL Converter to BS9000 via Masterlink connect.
BS9000 SPdif to BL5 in, SPdif from BL5 to BL5
BV11 Powerline to BL5 for activation and volume control.
Not 100% if the BV11 has an SPdif out which can connect to the last BL5 SPdif peg. (Not critical)
Essentially though! I think you must have a NLML Converter to control the switching of the NL BV11 and the ML BS 9000
This has been asked and discussed in several threads over the last years...
.....you can not send the needed CD command through the PowerLink connection from a BV11 to the BL5.
Not a christmas gift for you, sorry - but your BL5’s won’t turn on this way/with the sound directly via SPDIF from the BS9000.
You can only access the sources of the BS9000 as linked sources on the BV11 and listen to the sound through the PL connection from there.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
You should be able to use a PL switch as described in this thread: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/28649/227699.aspx#227699

Dear BeoET,
Thanks for the advice! I just draw a picture to confirm your suggested connection; Please kindly help me to check the diagram.
1. BV11-55 connect to Powerlink switch via Powerlink cable to IN1;
2. Beosound 9000 connnect to Powerlink switch via Powerlink cable in IN2;
3. Beosound 9000 connect to Beolab5 direct via SPDIF line;
4. Powerlink switch connect to Beolab5 via Powerlink mk3 cable in OUT;
BV11-55 will send the sound to Beolab 5 via the Switch as normal;
However, when I push the CD command in Beo4, the beosound 9000 will start the CD and send the signal to Beolab5 via the Switch by the powerlink cable; And Beolab5 detect the powerlink signal and activiate the SPDIF line, then the sound will be transfered from the SPDIF line to Beolab5; The user will finally get the optimal sound quality;
Am I right? If that is true, I will buy the Powerlink Switch;
Thanks for your further help and seasons greeting!
Hi Daniel, I haven’t purchased a PL switch myself yet (still running BV5+BS9000+BL5). But if I understand Martin correctly (in the thread I linked above), your drawing is exactly how the setup should be to get the digital signal to work from the BS9000 to BL5 when you have a “newer” BV.
Hi Daniel, I have the powerlinkswitch and you are right abot how it works. But You must use powerlink Mk2 cable to the labs 5 (full wired). It will work exactly as you described.
best regards
Martin

Hi, Martin,
Thanks for your confirmation! Sorry to reply late due to the holiday season.
I just have one more question for this setting:
If the BV11-55 connect to the lab5 via the powerlink swither, how do I do the speakers setting in the TV? Like left speaker, right speaker? Only one powerlink line connect to the BV.
Kind regards,
Hi Daniel, I'm not 100% sure of what you are asking for, but: In my current setup, I only have to enter the distance from the TV and the BL5s in the BV5 settings. There is a switch on each BL5 where you select if the speaker is the R or the L one.
BTW: I've currently ordered the PL switch from OneRemote as well - will use that to connect both the BS9000 and the TV with the BL5 when I get the new Eclipse next week.
Hi Daniel, The powerlink cable have both left and right in one cable. So it is no problem at all. You connect one Powerlink cable from the switch to one speaker and then you connect another powerlinkcable from the first speaker (that have to powerlink cable from the switch) to the second speaker.
Best RegardsMartin
