Hi all,

Recently I've picked up a Beovision 3 for use with my older consoles. I use scart with my PS1, SNES, GameCube etc. Trying to figure out if, first of all, the RGB signal is automatically recognised in V.tape and AV scart connections ( I believe this is the case), but most importantly if after I assign the Decoder scart input to accept Non B&O V.Tape2… for a non-Bang & Olufsen video tape recorder, does it recognise the signal as RGB or not?

Other articles I've read seem to indicate that you can not use the Decoder input for RGB.

Cheers.

Hi and Welcome to the forum.

According to the service manual, only the V.TAPE and AV inputs will accept RGB in.

Yes, the DECODER is not RGB.

I had my set-top-box in the Decoder socket, but moved it to AV for slightly better picture quality (RGB). I had to move my SNES to Decoder socket (assigned as V.AUX) but the BV3's picture is pretty good with even composite video so I can manage that :)

If composite or S-Video is enough, you can also use the Camcorder- panel on the lower left corner of the screen as an additional input. From time to time I plug my Amiga CD32 there using S-Video and it looks very nice.

Thanks Iausvi, you know the funny thing is that most of my scart cables have sync on Luma and when I plug them to the Decoder port the image is black and white. Only the GameCube cable has Sync over composite video and it shows in color, so am living it plugged in, but this is why I had to find out if RGB was available through the port.

Thanks again.
