I have just joined 'Beoworld' so Happy New Year and big hello to all!

We have had from new a Beomaster 3000 and the Beocord 2000. When like most people we moved over to cd's the cassette was stored and the amp is currently linked up to the iMac.

I have inherrited a collection of cds and tapes, however, although there is power to the unit the cassette spindles will not turn (they do manually). I could simply start again; but this seems a shame as it matches the amp (we have the wall bracket for it aswell.

Any help and advice appreciated.....

Kind regards

"Ariel"

That sounds as though it needs a new set of drive belts!

Hi Martin,

I sent an email off the site, however it bounced back....

If you email me on

dwsj_1@yahoo.com

with the cost of a repair kit that would be great.

I have taken the back off, and yes, there is a broken thin belt.

Regards

Status report on the Beocord 2000

As my first foray into mending HiFi equipment, I am quite pleased with myself.

Time and care are certainlt required, however the gunge of the old belts is removed, and new ones installed. The unit then came to life, and played tapes for a couple of hours, until I was fully transported back to the 1980's as it prceeded to eat the tapes, and found myself resorting to a Bic biro to rewing them. A glitch I'm sure...without a tape, and in "play" mode, the spindle rotates fine.

However, with (it seems only some) tapes engaged the right hand spindle has a jerky action, and excess tape escapes from the cassette.

Thoughts welcome, is it duff tapes, lack of lubrication on the spindle or smoething else?

Kind regards and thanks in advance

A.
