I've recently purchased on eBay in USA MMC 4 not working / spares or repair, which pretty much everyone said not to....with the thought on my mind I've purchased MMC5 from S.Hammer and send it to re-tipp to Mr  Schuerholz Wink

Than I've got message from Axel that the MMC4 could be repaired indeed and he's on it followed shortly with other message (today) that the MMC5 arrived and will be re-tipped soon.

Now I'm facing dilemma which one to keep, really.... Unsure, MMC5 is the correct Stylus for BC2200, but MMC4 seem more versatile and suitable for more systems (shall I ever regret spending as much money on stylus for entry level HI-Fi)?

Which one to keep is the question (I'm just a poor boy..... , cannot afford keep both really Sad ) ?

P.S. It turned out that once again that either you haven't got nothing or surplus once more.... and to make it even more interesting there are now few complete BC2200 (with stylus etc) emerging for sale for fragment of the price..... Sad

Keep them, you will find that the MMcs you buy or receive with a BG, are bad or will go bad shortly, so if you have plans of buying more BGs, keep your MMCs

There are no technical/electrical differences between the MMC4 and MMC5 if retipped to the same option - your new MMC5 will perform just as well and fit the same systems as a retipped MMC4.

The only difference will be that there is another number on top of the cartridge. Keep the MMC4 if you need one for a future Beogram Smile

BTW, I have a SP14 by Axel for repair, and I ordered a belt for my BG 1202, he will ship these on Oct. 8.

That was my thoughts as well, thanks for advice Soren (I couldn't find any differences, but strangely MMC4 seem be suited/recommended to many more Boegrams unlike the MMC5)

I have coming in BG 1202 as part of payment / exchange of BC3500 repair - sadly they both with SP14's

Shall economical situation allow, I probably will keep both, fit the MMC5 into my BC2200 and hold on to MMC4 (unless someone come up with offer I be mad to refuse)

There is not much difference - the diamond on the original MMC4 is slightly better and has a slightly tapered cantilever. It would not surprise me if Axel has made your MMC5 into a MMC4!

Hi Pete,

yes that's exactly what he's doing ;) (you been around to long .... Big Smile)

In ideal world I be able to keep both (something to put it in is more likely to happen than to get Beogram with good stylus, at least at my budget, that is)

Bob,

I would certainly recommend Axel's work to anyone. I have an MMC 20s re-tipped by Axel with an elliptical stylus for 99 Euros that sounds as good as my MMC 20 EN. I have tested it in both a BG 4004 and a BG1700.
