Just pulled the Beogram TX out of storage after 20 years....plugged it in and all seems to work except the arm will not come down. It moves over and I can hear it click but only moves down slightly. Any suggestions? Also noted that others are asking about the arrows??. On this TT, pushing on the arrows moves the arm to the song you want, fast or slow.
Tracking force set correctly?Needle guard up?
Martin
Guard is up and even if the tracking force is set all the way, still only lowers a fraction of an inch
cleaned things up but the pickup arm still will not lower. When I hit play, the arm moves over, stops where it is supposed to, the arm drops a fraction of an inch and then I hear the click that would indicate the TT is now ready to play. I can gently push down on the pickup arm and it moves freely. Is there a solenoid or something that may not be letting the pickup arm not lower all the way. There seems to be no friction or interference or sticking....just stops and lowers a little bit.
Solenoid yes.And dust can collect in its area and particularly on its metal rod.Not easy to get to - but possible if you are a fairly skilled tech guy.
Thanks Martin...appreciate the advice. Handy but not a real techy guy. Can you use some kind of electrical spray cleaner to help lubricate and clean?

Absolutely NO!
So I blew the carriage out with low pressure air and kept using the play and pause. The arm now drops and plays...guess the next thing is a preamp to see how the sound is. What is wrong with electronic cleaner?
