Red "bits" in Beolab 4000 wall brackets

What is the function of these? I have a pair of brackets without them. Are they OK to use without the red bits?

From memory the red bit is to lock I and release from the wall bracket.

Check it first before putting it up or it may be there forever

Nigel,

The Beolab 4000 hanging brackets cannot be used without the red locking clips.

The clips lock the speakers in place and to unlock them you push the bottom red pin to unlock them

It has been awhile since I mounted my 4000s, but if they were mounted vertically, such that piece attached to speaker slid down on to piece mounted to wall, then wouldn’t it work without the red piece? Gravity would hold them in place on the metal hooks of the wall plate?
