Just read the news about LG Displaying an 65-inch OLED TV that can roll up like a poster in a sound bar. This could be a great design opportunity for B&O.

What do you think?

I’d rather want to have an Avant with this kind of MicroLED display:

I think a lot of people who hate televisions, and owned BeoVisions just for the looks (a big chunk of BV sales in the 1990s/early 2000s I guess) agree with your neighbour!

Big opportunity for B&O!

Right now, the single most artistic and creative TV I've seen, which I never would have expected from who makes it, is the Samsung Art. Something that in better days I would have expected out of B&O not Samsung, but it's an amazingly artistic and well thought out product.

Why would B&O make this when LG already have? And the W7 wallpaper TV? This is the whole theme of many of my recent posts in various threads; B&O are being out done by their competitors who are doing a much better job at design, functionality and price! Where does B&O fit in these days in the tv market? Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Nice video; I like the partial roll-out option for Music streaming or apps.

Interesting video. Particularly the comment about other manufacturers looking at the screen and thus price can not be disclosed.

Reading about it elsewhere online, it is not an LG tv per se. It is a display from LG Display designed for sale to other tv manufacturers.

I agree, but with a couple of qualifications. The concept of showing a white frame mount picture on the screen when not viewing TV/DVD etc can surely be applied to the likes of the BV11 with the right software updates. Samsung also do the B&O trick regarding connections. They claim/ show an invisible connection (single optical connection) but then in the small print say their invisible connection excludes the TV power cable and and any ancillary device cables. So just how do you mount this TV screen flat on the wall without having a large strategically placed junction box/power socket void behind the screen?

I think the thing that really impresses me most about the Samsung is that finally someone seems to have developed a set you can leave visible all the time, not hide, for people who really hate the idea of a visible TV set. Me? I don't care, my large Panasonic plasma, 65 inch, is kind of a focal point as I don't mind my living room being a media room/home theater at the same time. Some don't like this though. The BV11 is a focal point by nature of design. The Samsung also will shut the display down if it doesn't sense people in the room after a certain amount of time.

But you're right, cabling. I've never seen a B&O catalog or advertising photo that shows wiring, even though you know there is power and cabling required. I guess Samsung expects you to have a power outlet put on the wall behind it, I have that in the apartment I built downstairs, had it and cable outlets put in where the TV hangs. Clean installation. I guess if you put a power outlet behind the set the thin optical cable gives you the ability to put your cable box or disc player somewhere else, in a cabinet, and run a tiny almost invisible cable to the TV.

I got the name wrong, it's apparently the Samsung Frame.

I'm thinking they could use a metal cylinder shape and use the old projector screen layout where the screen could be flipped 90 degrees vertical to become a long vertical cylinder. A ready Festivus pole!

The Samsung didnt come out too well in the flat panels review though, however nice the concept is.

The room sensing / art display on / off was a bit sketchy, and charging a subscription for high res art images being a couple of the issues.

The rolling up LG screen i think offers more possibilities - love the idea of partial roll ups for different aspect ratios / purposes (music controls etc)

I love the roll-up OLED. It’s brilliant, there are so many benefits and B&O could really jazz it up when it’s in standby and their speakers.

Transporting the screen would be far simpler and you wouldn’t need to worry about getting it in the house or through apartment lifts. Probably easily move a 80inch screen by yourself lol

Offers the option of ceiling mounting the unit - and having the screen descend like a projector.

Wouldn't suit everyone, but would suit some i guess.

Seems to offer a lot of possibilities.
