I have just linked up a pair of Beolab 8000 speakers to my Beosystem 6500.  Itseemed to be working well but today I have been listening to some music and noticed that the left and right channels do not seem to be working correctly.  So, on certain tracks the music normally only plays through one of the speakers and not the other.  Pinball Wizard being a prime example with the guitar intro at the start.
To test this I connected up my computer and played a test left and right sound.  With my old CX100 speakers connected it worked fine but when I connected the 8000 speakers, the sound came out of both speakers at the same time.
I set one of the speaker switches to ‘L’ and the other to ‘R’.  I then connected the cables to the Power Link 1 and Power Link 2 ports on the back of my Beomaster 6500.  I also tried moving the switch on the speakers to other positions but this made no difference.
Can anyone help?
Thank you!

Hi christop420,

If you are getting the correct stereo sound through your CX100 speakers, then the Beomaster should be working fine.  The issue in likely to be with either the speakers or the cables.

Are you able to try one speaker at a time to see if:-

a) It gives the correct left channel sound when set to "Left" position, and

b) It gives the correct right channel sound when set to "Right" position?

If one speaker mis-behaves with both cables, you have a speaker fault, while if both speakers mis-behave with the same cable, you have a cabling issue.

Kind regards, Steve.

Thanks Steve, will give that a try.  The other thing to consider is that the CX100 speakers have a 2-pin DIN connection, whereas the 8000 spaekers are connected via powerlink cables.

Hi christop420,

When using the amplified outputs of the Beomaster for the CX100 speakers, both the pre-amp and power amp stages of the Beomaster are being used.  Hence, my comment that if the sound is correct with the CX100 speakers connected, then both parts of the Beomaster should be fine.

The Powerlink outputs only use the pre-amp stage of the Beomaster, if this had a fault then both sets of speakers would show this, instead of just the Beolab speakers.

Kind regards, Steve.

I'd check first the 8 pin Powerlink plugs. Are they plugged in correctly on both sides (BM7000 out - BL8000 in) ?
