I am considering buying a Beovision 9. However, the Beovision 7 is also in the price range I am willing to spend on a second TV. Would you rather spend the money on a Beovision 9 (full HD) or an Beovision 7-40? Thank you for your help!

If the BV7-55 Mark 2 (ensure it is a Mark 2 model) is an option then this would be my choice for a TV of that period given that the 7-55 represents the best picture quality you could get, which is still fantastic by today's standards. I'd look for a set with minimum usage stats where possible and of course condition will play a factor too perhaps. The BV9 is a nice set but for me, as a previous owner, its had  its day. The blacks were not great on it, and this is the main reason I moved on as having seen the capabilities of OLED with pure blacks I simply couldn't compromise any longer, but that's just me. The BV9 was/is a great B&O television there's no doubt about that but blacks are grey so bear that in mind. If you're happy, then you can't go wrong! So cheap now its crazy. I sold mine for £750 only! Cheers, Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Agreed, the 7-55 is miles ahead in picture quality.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Sadly a 7-55 is just too expensive. So the options are between a Beovision 7-40 (bluray) and a Beovision 9 full HD! Which would you choose?

I made that choice last week. My Avant 32 RF was due for upgrade.

My dealer offered a wall mounted 7-40 MKVI with BL7-4. It was possible to see the set for testing.

In parallel I traced a BV 9 MKI from a private user. Price and state was unsure.

I went for the 7-40.

In this case I would also choose the latest Mk6 7-40 model over a BV9.

To be fair if you've got the room the Beovision 9 is still an absolutely superb set. Awesome picture, great connectivity options etc.

It's still a useable TV in 2018 and will continue to be at least for the next few years. I had one for quite a few years and changed it for a 10-46. I still prefer the 9 if I'm honest but the 10-46 is a bit more elegant.

BV 7-40. Picture quality is much better.

Personally I also like the design much more, but that of course is fully up to you.

Okay.. my opinion, for what it's worth!

BV9 Mk2/Mk3 is 1080p HD is good. Very good in fact. The Mk1 is 720p, but is still totally acceptable.

BV7-40 Mk5 and Mk6, 200hz, the motion handling is absolutely silky smooth. A smaller screen, but wow.. really. Wow.

If 40" is good for you, the Mk5/6 is incredible. If screen size matters, then the Mk2/3 BV9 will be fine.

For the money, both are excellent value. The BV9 looks a bit dated now as it's so big - but it's a design classic IMO. The BV7 is a demonstration of how production costs can mean nothing in a financial boom. I doubt we'll ever see the same again as it was so expensive to produce...

Your call!

Thank you for your answer Lee! I think I am going to go for the 7-40 and replace it with a 7-55 when I find one cheap (or an 11-46). I do already own a 7-40 mk5 and I think it has a better picture than my Avant 55! Thank you all for your help!
