Good morning to you all,
I've finally settled in my new home and have time to take care of certains things, one of which is the control of my non BO tv with a Beo4.
After some search and advices on the forum, i found that the OneRemote was the better solution to me.
So I've just placed an order this morning and thought it may be interesting to share the experience step by step from ordering to installing to playing with it!
So Step 1: order placed this morning!
To be continued…
Ok, few hours after the order, I received a shipping notice.
Beoworld app with direct photo upload and emoticons.
Tracking number received…
The One Remote I talk about is the RMB4 module making the Beo4 able to send non BO and Apple IR commands so for the finish, I would say "bakelite green with silver contact points" :-)
I already own the Beo4 and it's a very standard one.
Maybe I should have been more clear, sorry.

Funny, I ordered one RMB4 yesterday, came today, installed within 30 minutes, and now my Samsung TV works with Beo4 and my Beomaster.
When TV is pressed, Samsung TV is turned on and the BM goes to A.AUX and receives all volume commands :)
Works like a charm, however sometimes my TV(KS8005) needs a few press of TV before turning on, but it seems that if it is off for 10-20 seconds before I press TV again, it turns on every time. So that is ok.
Until now I have used my Beo6 for the same control, and I still will use it on account of more control and customization, and the icons for TV stations, but the rest of the people that uses the TV, hates the Beo6 ;) Now they are happy with the Beo4 :)

oh
Your post is very warmly welcome here Weebyx as i'm still waiting for delivery and of course my mind is full of "what if" questions !
I hope my setup will work as good as yours. I just have a Mac mini more and dont know how all this will work.
On a side note i would say that my TV is Corean too and it's very slow to start up, leading me to think sometimes that i've not depressed enough the button on the original remote. Maybe it has to do with the issue you're experiencing?
Cant wait to receive mine…
As far as tracking goes, it's still on danish territory!
Regards.

My TV starts, and has picture in about a second :)
It has something to do with the timing of the IR codes I guess, but the problem is not there if just left off 10 seconds before turning on. All works perfect.
Just needs a few "getting use to" regarding the buttons, but the included manuals is great. It is easy to use.
I do not have an Apple TV connected to my living room tv as the smart-tv part has it, but my bedroom (2011 Samsung UE466005) has an Apple TV connected, it should be able to control that also, will test that when getting around to it :)
I live in Denmark, came in 20 hours from order :)
Good afternoon to you guys,
Today the parcel has finally been delivered after some twists mainly because of french laziness…
Now i have to find time but above all courage to solder the board and most of all, cut the track !
matador43:because of french laziness...
Now i have to find time but above all courage...

Good Morning Guys,
I've finally had time to mount the RMB4 into my Beo4.
It was not complicated but not really a really simple task either so here we go:
First step, open the Beo4. Remember there'e 4 screw, one being under the barcode sticker.
A OneRemote Adventure.................in slow motion ;-)
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Sorry, that was i fact the second step, and i forgot to mention the screws are in the battery compartment.
The very first step was preparing the tools:
- A working Beo4- The RMB4 board,- A little philips screwdriver,- My beloved Tamiya cross wrench.- A soldering iron,- some tin,- The installation guide.
Next i removed 3 the little metal pieces. two who holds the main PCB and one who holds a little dummy PCB.
Then i put the RMB board in place where the dummy PCB used to be and arrange the 4 wires approximately where they need to be.I the cut the end and put some tin on the ends.
Then i did follow the installation guide to solder the blue wire to 2 components in parallel and the green one to the pin of a little CPU.
Well, that was the trickiest part. The part where you need to stick the wires are very little, you need to act precisely and quickly to avoid heat damage to the beo4 and you need what i missed the most: a good view or a big loupe!. I did stick the blue wire going downward following the instruction but if i needed to do it again i will have solder it coming from the above (coming from the lcd side). The wire is long enough and it allow more control on the parallel soldering.
Then you need to cut a little track. Here again you need a little knowledge to understand when you have carved enough the bakelite for the track to be cut.
After that soldering the red and black wires to the existing red and black wires (battery terminals) is pretty easy !The you put back the little metal blades and screws back.
The you just need to close de Beo4 back. There's a little Oneremote sticker with a serial number to stick in the battery compartment.
And then hold your breathe until you put the battery and walk in front of your non B&O TV!
And…
It works !!!!
Well, Almost…
The TV control part works flawlessly. Some commands are sometime a little slow to react, like "Mute".But i suspect it's maybe an operator issue: I need to learn the the "quick touch" move. Otherwise, the remote send a volume up or down command. All the usual commands are here and the less usual too. There is nothing so far i could do with the original remote I can't do with the Beo4:
- Classic TV commands (channels, direct and incremental, volume and mute),- Menu, settings, adjustments, audio controls…- Zapping back and forth between two channels, - Media player, TV Guide, Channel list…But,
The Apple Command part is not working at all. When i press the SAT button, the TV switch indeed to the HDMI port where the Mac is connected and I can see the remote is sending controls, But nothing happened on the Mac side.
I wrote to one remote asking if I may have did something wrong and wait for their answer.
So, to be continued still!…
Millemissen: A OneRemote Adventure.................in slow motion ;-) MM
It's not slow motion, it's realtime (which is quite slow, i agree!)
Speed improved - nice ;-)
Have fun with it.
Good evening to you guys,
I've send an email to OneRemote about my issue which is "everything works but the Apple controls"
They haven't answered yet, so i sent another email this morning.
When i was talking with them before buying they usually answered their mail in the following couple of hours, so I'm a little confused.
I will give them time…
Who said "slow motion" ?
matador43: Well, Almost… The TV control part works flawlessly. But, The Apple Command part is not working at all. The TV control part works flawlessly.
But,
Did you make the required programming steps....as described in the guide?
As far as i understand the user manual and the email talks i had with OneRemote, there's no need for any additional module. The RMB4 should control a non B&O TV AND the Apple device (Mac or Apple TV).
chucky:I remember purchasing Apple remote and solder it into a beo 4. Wasn’t great. Module RMB4 I think sold it with a tv. Did you get this? RMB4 Module? Surely hope they updated it.
RMB4 Module?
Surely hope they updated it.
Yes I did, Disabling and enabling again the Apple controls. Didn't change anything.
I'm sorry but if they're still no answer from OneRemote this afternoon, I'll open a Paypal case.
Hi
Mine is working just fine. Did you remember to activate Apple controls?
It’s done by pressing light menu stop 4 1 OFF That Will enable Apple controls :-)
/Allan
Yes, I did and I tried it right now again just before answering you.
No results.
I have open a file on Paypal.
With my Apple TV, I had to unpair the original remote before I could control it with my Beovision PUK. Is your Apple already paired with the original remote? It may need to be unpaired.
Instructions here to unpair Mac https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25509?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Stoobie
Thank you Stoobietoo,
Your comment lead me to investigate this "pairing" subject.
The way the Mac mini works is:- if you have a paired remote, the mac will respond to the paired remonte only.- If you haven't a paired remote, the mac will respond to any remote sending the rights codes (including beo4 modified ones).
So, i unchecked the "respond to only paired remotes" option in the security panel in system prefs and…
Voilà ! It works !
Of course i will end the case on Paypal but it still remains the fact that Oneremote didn't answer any of my three emails when they were very prompt to do it before buying. and they also could have mentioned this in the manual as i believe this option is checked by default.
And the mute function still working only when it wants.
Anyway. I'm now enjoying having only one remote for three devices and a beautiful one indeed.
End of the story and thank you to everyone who gave me some help.
I agree, very poor service, especially as it is such an easy fix. They would receive good kudos from you. Now you are left with a bit of a sour taste!
Very glad it worked.
Little Update,
I had an answer from OneRemote Via Paypal litigation center.
It happens they were closed for a week. I closed the case and send an email telling them about the system prefs issue.
I believe it's the end of the adventure for good now!
Hope it helps anyone.
Good Afternoon Guys,
You know when i started that thread naming it "adventure" it was kind of a figure of speech.
Well, indeed it was and it still is…
Little reminder: The apple part of the remote didn't work properly at first. so i contacted Oneremote who did remain silent. After a week or so i started a case on Paypal. Then One remote did answer: they were closed for holidays.
In the meantime i did figure out what wasn't working (something i propose to add one the one remote manual) and it all work.
But Paypal didndnt close the case as i asked and refund me in full, also prompting me to send back the item, which i did, being exhausted from all this complications.
BUT…
As my beo4 is now ready for the RMB4 (please read "with cute track") I advise Oneremote to acknowledge when they received the item back for me to buy another one. and of course, apologies for all the inconvenience…
Well… The answer came today and it's not the one i was expecting:"…Please don't order again"…
We did have a little argument about the mute function, who wasn't really working well with TV and oft ended in freezing the remote, needing the batteries to be removed to work it again properly. The told me in line :
1-you dont know how to well mute a B&O remote, it's a complicated move -> OK, my Ouverture do mute very well…2-If nobody complait it's a complicated move, that's because people usually dont use this function -> OK, maybe if nobody complait it dont work on the RMB4, it's because people usually dont use this function, but i assure you it work bad.3-Ok, if it dont suit your needs, you have 30 day to return it and be refund. -> rude.
Wel, maybe you can find me a little harsh or agressive and i'm sorry for that. But as i told them, i dont believe it's a way of doing business in that "niche" market.
Anyway, despite all those disappointments, the RMB4 fas quite à pleasure to have and work 98% well. Appart from the mute function and a very little almost unnoticeable lag. Soi I will still recommend it, as strong as i was ready to order another one…
BUT, i dont know which world we are living in for people to do business this way, with harsh and rude answers.
No I have to open my remote to try to bridge that track again…
I just want to add that i have had a Beo4 with Oneremote RMB4 in for 4 years. It functions perfectly also with mute :)i would not hesitate to buy another RMB4 if the need should come.
Double post. Sorry
