Hi,
I searched but could not find an answer to my question; I apologize if I missed it...
I purchased recently a Beogram 6500 directly from Denmark (I am in the USA), hence it has a 220V supply.
Every product iteration received a different number for the supply but I wonder whether, for instance, I could use the power supply/transformer from a Beogram 5005 (US model) to convert my 6500.
I suspect that close models are compatible, but does anyone know for sure?
Thank you!
Yes, you can do that.
Martin
I believe you restored the turntable I bought, according to the seller. (-:

Dillen: Yes, you can do that. Martin
If you do that you will need to arrange a supply for the RIAA board as the 5005 power supply will not have a connector for that purpose.
Possibly easier to rewire the existing transformer and change the fuse for double the value.
Regards Graham
Oh yes, that's right, Graham. The preamp is powered from the regulator board - not the main board.Rewiring the transformer may be the best solution. But the fuse is on the secondary winding so should not be changed.
Thank you both! I will look into it.
I'll will also keep my eyes open for a for-parts-only 6500/7000.
I looked at the schematics for the 6500 and 5005 in manuals and the regulator board is identical except for a 750mA fuse (vs. 500 mA).
Two wires then go to the RIAA board, 12V and 22V I think. I will have to measure.
Looks like a simple modification, assuming that the transformer can handle the extra current.
Thanks,
Jorge
Actually it looks like I may just be able to get away with replacing the transformer...
Again, would have to measure to make sure the secondary voltage is the same.
