Beoplay A6 and Google Chromecast

Hello,

I have a set up of 3 Beoplay A6's, 2 Beoplay M5's, a Beosound 2, and 2 Beoplay M3's.

The problem I have is that none of the A6's show up when trying to play via Chromecast. All the other speakers show up, it is just all three of the A6's.

I have all my speakers enabled, with Chromecast working on them all, apart from the A6's. So, I don't think it's anything to do with that. 

I hope someone can help me here please.

David,

if you don't have Chromecast related Wi-Fi issues ask B&O support to activate another Firmware version for your Beoplay A6. They released FW 1.15.17640.17856519 in December, which disables Google Cast. Having no Wi-Fi problems at all they activated FW 1.15.17881.16477003 for me, thus Google Cast is enabled again and works fine.

Hey,

Thank you so much. That's very helpful. Just one question though...how do I contact B&O support to ask them to activate Google Chromecast for me?

since you also have a Beosound 2 and can compare to A6:

What do you think, does it make sense to replace the A6 with a BS2 for better sound quality ?

Hey,

Thanks for the links guys. Ill look in to asking them for an update to allow Chromecast on my A6's. 

As for the Beosound 2 question. I do feel it is a much more superior speaker to all my other ones, including the A6.

Just to give you an idea, I have two A6s on one wall in my Living Room and the other side of the room, I have one Beosound 2. The Beosound 2 has a better quality sound than the two A6's put together. So, I would definitely recommend it.  Though the A6 is still good quality, in my opinion.

Hi Ulrike,

 

My auto software update is not working for whatever reason. It keeps saying the 1.15.17640.17856519 is the latest version. I spent 3 hours talking to B&O support today, trying to update my firmware with no success. Do you have a copy of the 1.15.17881.16477003 firmware handy? The Beotool App shows latest firmware to be 1.20.30100.247491601.

Did you reset to factory on the app or press the button underneath?

I had this with my BS1 at one point and i pressed the button down the bottom (the one with the little cog shape next to it) and reset it that way.

Only one time have i had to remove it from my beoapp and then press the button and then reconfigure it all together. Then it said it had an update.

I called support and they pushed the sw update manually. Now everything works as it should.
