Hello,

I am using a MiniJack to DIN cable between a Bang Olufsen Beosound 3000 and a ChromeCast Audio. The cable is connected to the AUX input.

I am able so select the input and I hear sound, but I am not able to control the volume using the volume control on the Bang Olufsen Beosound 3000 . The volume is fixed. The volume indicator increases and decreases when I push the volume + or volume -, but the volumes stays the same.

Anyone have a solution?

I used this cable: https://www.av-connection.com/?PGr=6260

Seems to be a wellknown issue with some apps - which app/apps are you using?

Did you try to drag the volume slider instead of tapping + - ?

Normally an aux socket going out from Beosound (and any other device) is not controllable - there is fixed voltage there, You control volume on the external amplifier. If you want to control volume on Beosound you should use a headphone socket. Please try.

Sorry, maybe I was misunderstanding what you wrote about pressing the ‘+ and -‘.

You mean: using the volume control on the BS3000 makes no difference, right?

Do you have any problems with volume control of the built-radio or cd of the 3000?

If not, did you check the setting of the device in the Google Home app.

The volume wheel should be set to 100%.

Does it look something lke this there?

I am not using the AUX for sound output. The AUX is used for sound input, and I should be able to control the speaker volume via the volume control on the BS3000. When I play a CD it is working ok.

I know - Peter (above) seemed to understand the issue differently.

Did you look for what I suggested....a too low volume in the Chromecast itself?

I have no problems adjusting sound on my BS 3000, I have tried it with different cell phones and mp3 players and never had problems. Try to do a reset to factory settings, or connect another device to test.

Reset like this ?

"RESET

To enter testmode, within 30 seconds after connecting power to the unit, press SOUND 0 2 5 8 on the keyboard with no more than 2 seconds between each press.

Then just press 31, and the display will show DEFAULT TM ERROR, then just press standby, and all should be cleared.

If all is well, the display will show DEFAULT TM ERROR, if something went wrong, it will say TM ERROR."

If your ChromeCast Audio device has a display and a keyboard, I am sure that you could do it that way ;-)

Otherweise - try as described here:

Hi Roddy,

Please can you double-check that the cable is connected to the 7 pin Aux socket, not to one of the 8 pin Powerlink sockets?  Plugging the Chromecast into a Powerlink socket by accident can cause the symptoms that you described.

Kind regards, Steve.

Thanks !

I have only one spare DIN connector on the back of the Beosound. Could it be a combined AUX/Powerlink connector ?

There is 3 DIN connector. Two for speakers and one spare.

Hi Roddy,

Aux and Powerlink are not combined, although they look similar, they are for different purposes.  Please can you check the label on the socket that you plugged the Chromecast into?  If this says "Powerlink" then it is in the wrong socket.  Please move the Chromecast to the 7 pin socket marked "Aux" and the volume control will work again.

Kind regards, Steve.

Probably he's using a DIN out instead of a DIN in cable.

If you "feed" the 3000's output you most likely can hear sound but its volume is not changable (and relatively quiet)

Steve, you're the expert in these cables; is it one of yours?  Wink

Hi hemenex,

Roddy mentioned that he got his cable from a different company.  Not sure if the cable supplier will be able to provide the support required so I thought it best to offer some help!

Thank you all!

Think the cable is wired wrong, output to output.

I used this https://www.av-connection.com/?PGr=6260

Can someone confirm if it is working?

Hi Roddy,

Sorry I can't comment on cables you purchased elsewhere (maybe the cable supplier can confirm?).  However, this cable will be 100% certain to work with the Chromecast Audio when connected to the Aux socket (not the Powerlink sockets) on your system:-
