Hi everyone,

I have a Beocenter, connected with BeoLab Penta MkII as front speakers. However I would like to connect Beolab 3500 as rear speakers. How can I do this? It seems Beolab 3500 is MkII as it has both connectors Powerlink and Masterlink. I would like to use volume control and power on/off for both Beocenter and Beolab 3500 with one remote Beo4 or Beolink 5000. Is it possible? Thanks in advance!

Beobeetle,

Are you sure the socket is a Powerlink and not MCL, they both look very similar.  I've seen the info below on this site which may assist.

Beolab 3500 MK 1 up to serial no. 1934xxxx

Beolab 3500 MK2 above serial no. 1934xxxx

Oh, I'm sorry. it's a MCL...anyway...can I connect these two or I need to find Beolink converter?

If so-which number-1611 or 1614?

I found the serial number- Type 1601, looks like MkI

Hi Beobeetle,

One option is to  use the Beolink Converter (type 1161166 is the only version that can act as an ML driver to activate the 3500 from the Beocenter MCL outputs).  This will connect to the Aux socket of the Beocenter with a Datalink cable: https://soundsheavenly.com/tv-masterlink-control-and-sync/datalink-cable-for-bo-beocord-etc

A Masterlink cable will then be used from the Converter to the speaker: https://soundsheavenly.com/link-masterlink-control-and-sync/

Alternatively, your Beolab 3500 mk.1 (if it has the MCL socket fitted) can be connected directly to the Beocenter using a specially wired cable to connect to the 2 x 3pin Speaker 2 sockets on the Beocenter, without needing the Converter.

If this is of interest, please get in touch via my sponsor link below to let me know the cable length you need and I will be pleased to quote for this cable.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. Mostly I'll use your services, as I met several times fantastic services from you. I have no free ports from my beocenter 9500, so I need to use one of the free powerlink ports at the bottom of Penta's.

BTW-The cables I ordered has arrived in Bulgaria-Thanks again!

Hello Beobeetle

How are you operating your BeoLab 3500? Using the Beo4 or the Beolink 5000 remote? Which one is more suitable?

Thanks
