Hiya
This might be a ridiculous question, with an obvious answer, but of these two which is the better. I've not listened to either in person, but have the opportunity to buy second hand 6000's or new s3's for the same price. I'm instinctively thinking that the BeoLab 6000's should be miles better, as they cost so much new.
I have a Beoplay A9 in my dinning/living room, where I listen to most of my music. I will be putting these new speakers in my lounge. I plan on plugging a chromecast audio into the s3 or 6000's, to create a multi room system.
Hopefully the answer is resoundingly obvious to someone with better knowledge than me! :)
Thanks

I’d have to go with the BL6000. With it you not only have a speaker but a design icon by David Lewis, and a part or the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. I’ll admit I haven’t heard the S3 as my dealer went under before I ever got to hear one, but I’d still go BL6000.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Hi adamhutch,
Welcome to Beoworld! I would suggest keenly searching online auction sites (and the Beoworld "For sale" listings) to see if you can get a pair of Beolab 8000s within your budget. Prices do vary greatly, but I think you will find that the step up in sound quality from 6000s to 8000s is well worth the extra cost.
Kind regards, Steve.

Agree with Steve - BL6000 are beautiful but I always found the sound quality poor. BL8000s would be a better choice, though i have not heard the S3s.

The BL8000 are miles ahead as said above, If you can afford them you will not be disappointed, however where I am the 8000s are about double the price of the 6000s. A pair of S3s will not be as good as the 8000s, but they put out great sound for the size and cost. I was able to get my S3 for $100 new on Amazon. But again, if you can afford them, BL8000 is the way to go....
I currently own both and I wouldn't rate the S3 anywhere close to the BL6000.
