I have bought a beovision 8-40 without a Masterlink module. If I buy a Masterlink module, is it just plug and play? 2 screws of and set it in?

I think your bigger problem is finding a Masterlink module to buy..

However, if you do find one the diagram below should help

Regards Keith....

If there is no software update to do on a non-masterlink BV8, I've got a spare module almost brand new...  (just tested that it worked the same that my current module, and sadly, the faulty thing in my BV8 is not this module). But I suspect high shipping cost from France

I have paid 100 euro for my bv 8-40, so I think it maybe will cost to mutch. I will try to ask here in dk.

I have a bv8-32 and a bv8-26 with Masterlink module. Can I use that?

No, these aren't the same modules. Maybe the BV10-40 module is the same as the BV8-40.

BV8 40 and BV10 40 MK1 and 10 46 MK1 use the same ML PCB but the metal frame that the PCB is mounted in are not identical.

Now I got a masterlink module for 28 euro, called system board. I got it in a few days. Then it is just to plug it in?

Now I have set the module in my bv8-40. It does not work. Maybe it is the option-setting at the tv? Any other ideas? I have taken a picture from the service meny.

Looking at the screenshot you have option, if you are using bang and olufsen hi-fi you need to make it option 2

I will try that. But what does the SM HW mean? Does that mean anything?

I thought you had photoshopped it red !

No idea but maybe it is a clue ?

When mine was installed I had B&O technicians do it ... and I am sure they did a firmware upgrade.

Are you near a B&O shop with service people ?

I must do it by myself. It is to expensive to let technicans do it. I have payed 100 euro for the bv 8-40. Smile

"Build" is a reference to what firmware version is installed.

I recall that red color is an indication that an upgrade have failed of some reason.

When a technician tried to upgrade a BV10 I had a number of years ago, the build number went red after he tried to upgrade with the servicetool. After another try the upgrade was okay.

Nothing you can (easily) do yourself (unless you have access to the B&O service tool....and know what to do!)

However, if you only paid 100 € for the tv, it should be worth it to let a B&O technician finish the job.

If you want, he could also load the PUC codes for external devices of your choice.

And the DVB-tuner needs an update, too.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

well, 200 euro for a technican is to expensive. Maybe a factory reset can do it? How do I do a factory reset?

and also, I can turn out all devices with the masterlink and also I gives power to my masterlink system (as an audio master). Something works!!

I recommended getting a service guy in.

I had mine done in 2012. From memory it took them some time, including the use of a computer plugged into the BV.

As MM said, they can also load the PUC drivers you need st the same time.

Have you looked at your existing PUC list ?

Is there anything you need that is missing?

As far as I remember:

Press Menu

Highlight Options/Settings

Press Menu 0 0 GO

This should bring you into the service menus.

Look around there - but don't change any numbers.

For me 200 Euro would be too much to spend on a TV that is worth a lot less, too.

"Reset all features" - is that factory reset? and can I just push that without any "danger"?

Your problem is, that the System Module SW doesn’t match the rest of the TVs SW versions. That is also why the Build number is red - there is a mismatch.

When the rest of the SW is from Build 166d the System Module SW have to be version 20.06o to match it.

That being said, it wouldn’t hurt to get the whole TV updated to a later build.

I do doubt that a local store would charge you 200 euro for an update. Especially if you can bring the TV to the store.

Very interesting. Thank you - for the better understanding. So if the versions where right, it would be better. Maybe it is earsier for me to buy another bv 8-40 where the masterlink module allready are build in.

I have to talk with a B&o store about my BS essense, maybe I can ask them there. You think it would be ever more expensive?

A simple SW update should make everything work properly.

I think they would charge less. Where in DK are you located ?

I had a similar issue (Build number red) but ML works.

I wrote to Beocare and they told me, the build always has special sofware for the SM included, there is a mismtach, but the SM should work in daily situation, whatever this meant :-)

The actual SM SW is 50.x. for Build 229. If I am right the 166d and 20.05 should work together. The SM Modul SW entry could be red as well, even in that case it should work.

What error do you have? There are many configuration options and you shold always unplug your whole ML system from mains for 30 seconds, then install all cables and plug everything back to mains. The LED on your BV turns green for 10 seconds and checks for other ML equipment.

Give B&O a try, ask them for a update, i carried my BV8-40 to the local Beostore in Hamburg and could wait for the update. It took only 15 Minutes and was 25 Euros.

Ralf

PS. You should update the HD Software to 0.1.9.9 this could be done by yourself: Download from B&O and put it on a USB Stick.
