Hi guys, a newbie here with a question, and quite new to B&O, I have a beogram 2000 old style with an SP10 stylus, i am gutted as somehow i have lost the diamond needle, i cant explain that but as i say gutted, looked on ebay and saw them for around about £125, so its a dear learn, luckily i have just won a beogram 1200 with a very similar looking needle, firstly i know i can use this with my beomaster 2000 (i also have the beovox 3800 speakers) i came across this complete set for free, yes free, someone had a sign outside there house saying please take, result. so my question is, whats the set up worth, is the beogram 1200 superior than the 2000, can i interchange the needle, and basically i love the sound and build quality, so thanks for your help and patience and happy to learn, cheers. Daren
Just replied to this but answer didn't appear!!
1. The Beogram 2000 and Beogram 1200 are very similar but the 2000 has a hinged lid. I would have the 2000.
2. The Beomaster 2000 is one of the best amplifiers B&O made - directly coupled, it is simply great.
3. The Beovox 3800 is made really for the UK market - it has a 12" driver which meant it avoided purchase tax. The driver is made by Goodmans. If you have the stands as well, you have won the jackpot!
The styluses are interchangeable - SP12 is best as it is elliptical and the SP10 is also fine.
It is worth what someone will pay for it - condition is everything. These are very serviceable systems and you have found yourself one of the really good ones. Welcome to Beoworld - put some pictures up!

Hi Daren,
A good price gauge is looking on eBay for similar items that have sold. I guess it depends on who's buying and how much they want it - if two people want the same listing it can drive the price up.
The Beogram 1200 was mechanically based whereas the 2000, if I recall correctly, was based on the 1202 which was electromechanical but with the addition of a hinged cover (which I prefer to the lift off style). Worth doing a bit of digital-legwork and looking at the product pages on the site - it's fascinating what you learn!
Peter beat me to it!
thanks, whats the best unit thw 2000 or 1200 as i am going to use the SP10 in either one
awesome thanks, i have tried but the site is saying the file is too big, ill try again after dinner, im so pleased i joined the site, thanks for the replies so far everyone
Actually the 2000 was mechanical and based on the 1200 - the 3000 was the same as the 1202. The 3000 has the advantage of better record support at the expense possibly of the looks but also has a weighted platter which should also give a slight advantage. Both 2000 and 3000 are good decks though.
