Hi all,
I've got an offer for a cheap Beosound Century and it has a problem with the door that has been described to me by the vendor as:
"Door closes automatically, but you have to push it to open"
Due to the distance I can't check out the system in person, so I asked them to be more specific, and it appears it's not only a sensor related problem but that the drive of the door does not work at all while opening (you have to do that by hand). But it still closes perfectly.
Apart from that, everything works, also the CD cover opens and closes. (I realise that one single motor drives both the door and the CD cover.)
1st question is, shall I get it or pass on because it is likely that expensive spare parts are needed?
But if it's "just" some work it might be worth it for me.

Usually the sender IR LED that has died.Requires a tech guy (read: soldering etc. ) to replace.I have the original part in the drawer.

If that sender dies, can‘t you then start the door movement by just pushing the door manually and then it will continue on it’s own?
I can do some work on my own, am okay with using my soldering station even though I am by no means an expert. If it’s not too complex I could maybe handle it.
