My BEQ4 has frozen. Only two keypads work on he display but no signal is being sent.

I have checked the IR with a digital camera and can see two purple dots appearing.

Some water got spilled onto the remote and the above has occurred after drying out.

B&O want £100 just to look at it. Plus cost of repair. or if not repairable £256 to renew.

Can anybody out there please tell me how to disassemble the remote so that I can check the circuit board.

Good morning,

Four screws in the battery compartment. Usually, the fourth is located under the barcode sticker.

Dear matador43.  Thank you so much for your reply. I have now taken the unit apart and though I thought I had dried it out it was in fact still damp on the inside. Drying and cleaning is the extent of my ability to deal with printed circuitry so I hope that will do the job. I am going to give it another 24-hrs before putting it back together again.

If no luck I will ask around the Forum to find out whether anybody has a spare at a reasonable price.

Again Thanks ... Albatross.

Sealing it in a plastic bag full of dry, uncooked white rice will help dry it out. This is a common thing to do with damp electronics like cell phones  and such.

Jeff.  I am afraid my BEO4 Mk1 failed to come back to life after intense cleaning and drying. It registers TV (as it should) when set up but the only accessory it will drive is the VTape. and this in all aspects Load, unload, Reverse etc.,etc. ... maddening.

I thank you again for your input. I will now try to find the Forum through which I can ask whether anybody has a remote at a sensible price.

Albatross.

Sorry to hear that! Sometimes drying works, sometimes it doesn't. Always worth a try though. I bought two additional Beo4 remotes off of eBay a few years ago, to have one in two link rooms, both worked and were decently priced. Worth a look, also you might ping Lee, the site owner, and see if he has any from his late business.
