In fact, no new BeoLab 12 but new floorstands for the BL12-3 and BL12-2.
Here is a picture from the B&O official website :
I was just thinking the same.. First I thought it was the back of hte BeoSound 9000.. But after a closer look it's the BL12's :-)
Crikey, I was just coming online to post the very same photo!
Not sure what to think about the floor standing BL12. The shorter BL12 looks better, I think. But why buy these when you could get BL3s? The BL12s look like re-defined 80s speakers.
I like the BL12 on the wall, but on a stand.... No...
Beoworld app with direct photo upload and emoticons.
I'm curious about the sound ?
If i remember, Moxxey didn't like the sound of the wall-mounted BL12-3 in the shop.
I hope the sound is not "thin" because of the lack of the wall-effect !
Steph: If i remember, Moxxey didn't like the sound of the wall-mounted BL12-3 in the shop.
Quite flat, I thought. But remember my dealer's BL12s weren't on a solid wall, which makes a difference (and makes me doubt whether stand versions will be even flatter). Wasn't it Seanie who bought BL12s and then got rid of them after a few weeks as he found they couldn't be pushed very hard?
In fact, where is Seanie these days?
I thought the whole design of these things was that the wall amplified/enhanced the sound. Maybe they have a "stand" setting! Personally i like them even less on the stands.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
And, do you like the sound off yours ?
How can you compare with other BeoLabs (BL3, BL4000, BL6000,...) ?
Hi Steph,
I'm very satisfied with the sound of my BL12-3's. Mostly I play jazzmusic and modern stuff, sometimes classic whe I'm in the mood.
The sound is very detailed, not too bright and the bass goes rather deep. Mine are mounted on a very solid wall. Later I added a BL11. This will give the combo more body and goes deeper (no boo m boom). In my opinion a very good combination. Especiall for the bass, which is deep and tight.
I'm planning to swap my rears, BL4000's, to BL12-2's. The 4000's are very different qua sound, They are not as detailed the BL4000's have a very neutral and warm sound.
This combo is much better than my first combo (BL8000/Bl2). I have not tesed with BL3's, because of the size of my room. I think tey are too small. Also not tested with BL6000's due to placement. But I think he 6000's ae missing too much deep bass. Not an option for me.
I would recommend the BL12's with the addition of a BL11 sub.
The back speaker covers appears to be white on the B&O site, not black as on the first picture in this thread. Perhaps they just made a few photoshop mockups. I wonder how it will affect the sound since they marketed these flat speakers as using the wall for the bass speakers. Now there is plain air.
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
Thanks BeoFan,
Interesting that you prefer the BL12/BL11 to the BL8000/BL2 combo !
I owned a pair of BL8000 MK2 with my BS9000 and really loved the sound. Very warm, punchy and good controled bass.
I too love the sound of the BL3. Incredible for their size !
Now, i find the design of the BL12 very interesting. And, as i can not mount them on the wall, the floorstand is a good option.
But i really want a superior sound. So it must be in the same league of BL8000 or BL3.
To Michael, there is a position switch, so if we choose "free setting", it could be OK...
Beofan53:Michael, my wallmounted BL12-3's are open from the backside. I can see the woofers. I think that the stand comes with a backcover for the speakers and will be part of the stands. That's probably why they sound even good when they are free. Besides I think you can order black or white backcovers ( same as bv10/11). Just my thoughts.

Hi Beofan, yes I know :) But I just remarked that the first picture (same one) had black covers where the one on bang-olufsen.com has white ones. Perhaps they changed it to look more "calm" I dont know, didnt like that you can see the speakers thru the white one however
mibook84:didnt like that you can see the speakers thru the white one however
I hope to hear these loudspeakers to my dealer soon .
I don't know if the stands are already available ?
Beolab12 on floor stand looks inredibly ugly , looking like a fridge
Floorstands by " Art of metal design ", a swiss manufacture.
Not bad at all !
Don't like it....too much bling bling
Steph: Floorstands by " Art of metal design ", a swiss manufacture. Not bad at all !
Depends on how you view modern design. I think a lot of B&O users have a different opinion on 'style', with a bit of an old-school 70s/80s edge.
I don't know how anyone would want incredibly shiny speakers in their home. Less is more in my book. Sure, I prefer the aluminium edged BV11 over the black version, but I wouldn't want more shiny metal than the edge around the TV. Brushed aluminium isn't so bad, but not shiny metal. It's also hard to keep clean - the shiny metal base of my Beosound 4 is very hard to keep looking clean.
You can apply my new avatar to what I think of these BL12 floorstand speakers :)
BL 12 is good shiny blink blink good for 50Cent rappas home interior
Maybe they have a gold version!
Here is 50cents home by the way ;-)
OK,
Apparently, the BL12 are too shiny for the majority of Beoworlders !
Maybe i could just get a good old pair of BeoLab 6000 and a BeoLab 11 for my BeoVision 10 !
I think the 6000s are great for their size and used they are amazing value - I've had a couple of pairs. I've got a black pair at the moment I'm thinking of exchanging for a plain pair, just to match with the rest of the system. Mint condition, 2007/8 - if you're interested give me a shout!
Cheers,
Jonathan
Here's a hands-on report with the new BeoVision 11 for those interested:

Good lord Chris, you lasted less than 5 days before flogging your BV10? What convinced you that you must find the extra cash to get a BV11? I can't find anything that compelling to justify the 'upgrade'?
Didn't we both agree - with our own eyes - that the PQ was no better? For me, it was worse. It was too bright and sharp and showed all the flaws in the source.
Worse, as it doesn't have masterlink, it renders my BC6-23 in the kitchen as a dead TV.
I'm actually a bit disillusioned as it just proves how much money B&O users have to spend on things like a new TV and how 'throwaway' a few months old TV is in this world. What's gone wrong where we flog massive, heavy and hand-engineered TVs after a few months? No wonder consumerism is such a mess.
Well it all depends on how good the offer is, but I think as it includes a £1600 Beolab 11 the difference shouldn't be too heavy.
Regard Chris
Ps I drive a 13 year old car, don't live in one of the most upmarket expensive cities in the UK, don't smoke or drink so i think my "consumerism" really is my concern Remind me who has been virtually through the entire speaker inventory? And i'm not knocking that, big up.
whilst not doubting the BV11 is a fine TV, I find the flatpanelshd site to be very "pro-B&O" and so would always expect their reviews to be very favourable. Still a nice TV though!
Ban boring signatures!
It does look very nice indeed. I checked it out at B&O Chelsea this weekend. I wonder what BV10s (40s especially) will be trading for in the used market now?
Chris Townsend: Remind me who has been virtually through the entire speaker inventory? And i'm not knocking that, big up.

Actually, Chris, before you make assumptions, actually I SOLD them to re-invest back in my business. They were in different rooms. I didn't buy them and get rid after 6 months to upgrade. It was a collection, which I sold, when I needed £40,000 to invest in my business in 2009. Plus, I made a profit - or certainly didn't lose money - on a couple of the speakers. Most were bought pre-loved anyhow, at a discount. Vastly different scenario.
I popped in to my dealer's at lunch and can't see why people are getting over-excited with the BV11, particularly existing BV10 owners. I think the BV10 has a better design balance, plus I don't like the location of the IR area on the BV11 - to the right of the middle section. Odd location and really stands out at my dealers.
But, still, very surprised that someone wants to take a huge hit on a TV they've owned for 6 months, to get pretty much the same TV with a relatively minor upgrade. Do people really have so much money to write off?
Puncher: whilst not doubting the BV11 is a fine TV, I find the flatpanelshd site to be very "pro-B&O" and so would always expect their reviews to be very favourable. Still a nice TV though!
I agree Puncher. I've seen it at my dealer's twice now and, sure, it's nice, but it definitely does not make me think "wow, I'm prepared to drop £5000 in 6 months to get that compelling upgrade" (well, 9 months for me, but it's still a case of months). For instance, my dealer would offer me approx £3000 or so for my BV10-46 against a BV11-46. It's not about finding the extra £3500-4000, it's about *losing* £5000 or so in 9 months, just for a minor upgrade for a TV which looks pretty much the same as the one I've got rid of, which won't connect to any other device.
I'd rather give up the smart apps and a couple of extra HDMI's than lose my masterlink connectivity.
Of course, if I didn't have a BV10 and was looking at a new B&O, I'd have no hesitation. Can't argue with the BV11-46 price.

Give him some credit... at least he's helping keep B&O in business! :)
Nobody has sold anything.
Nobody has taken a hit, or wants to.
Who is getting over excited about the 11?
If i was offered a decent amount for the 10 and the Beolab 11 as single unit i'd consider it, nothing else. Certainly not for £3,000.
My personal financial status is not for discussion or anybody's concern, and this almost emotionally involved type of discussion is probably the primary reason why forum members haven't bothered to keep visiting this site.
Good luck Chris.
Hey Chris don't take things to heart. I feel that Moxxey was being very honest and genuine to you, like a friend would. Moxxey is a fountain of knowledge with many electronic products and the guy is honest and genuine from experience. His is NOT a sales guy for B&O who will gladly take your money. I know as i've paid over the top for some real shoddy B&O products over the years which really havnt delivered although they have made some real gems too.
Anyway, I hope you love your BV11 if you decide on one. I'm considering one, although the basic stand costing more than a basic 32" LCD has rather caused me to think differently right now.
I'm yet to see the bv11 myself will check it out soon, but i think it offers alot incomparison to the bv10. You can never have enough hdmis and by B&O adding six puts them in the fore front compared to other brands and at least you won't have to get spiltters etc, etc... The light sensor isn't that bad in my opinion as it looks identical to the one on the bv12 and if it brings added benefits in terms of how it regulates and improves the picture in your room then that is no bad thing at all.
I think that with the better speakers added hdmis and few added tweaks makes it a very good purchase. They are definately going in the right direction with this tv and if i had the money i'd definately buy it without hesitation.
