Hi everyone!
I've finally come to the point where I've gathered enough stuff and moved to a big enough apartment, that it makes sense to Masterlink it all thogether. I have a Beosystem 7000 that I'll connect via Beolink Converter to the ML network. The kitchen has a Beolab 2000. The bathroom will have a Beolink Active feeding two CX50's via an MCL2P amplifier. For the bedroom I have two Beolab 3000, but I'm not sure what to drive them with. I seem to recall reading that the Beosound Overture can be put in "slave" mode, thus making it a link unit with local sources. Is this correct? Are there other units which have this capability? I quite like the look of the Overture, but I'm curious as to whether there are other options?
Regarding the Overture, are there particular versions that are preferable? I know there are at least two CD mechs. Which one should I look for?
For cabling I'm thinking of using Cat6a FFTP cable, with matching sockets and connectors (I know Cat7 is recommended, but it seems to be impossible to get on reels in Sweden.)
Does this all seem reasonable, or have I overlooked something important?
Thanks!
/ Johan

Sorry, didn´t noticed your question ....
I`m not quite sure, but I think, the Ouverture can`t detect slave options (A.OPT 5/6).
But newer models like BS3000,3200 can act as a local source. So you can connect your BL3000 to BS3000 in A.OPT 5 in your bedroom.
The whole setup should work.
And sorry again, can`t answer your second question about Cat cable...
Hope this helps.
@Marc: nice, scandinavian setup...:)

Every B&O dealer doing installations should have / can order a 500m reel of Tyco CAT 7 cable recommended by B&O; Atlona, ...

I actually found where I'd seen it.. on Page 11 in the Overture Setup doc. I suppose I should have looked there before asking.. sorry.
I says the Overture can be put in option 6. That should be what I'm looking for, right?

Ok, I'll check.
you can drive the beolab 3000's with the beolink active and the cx50's could be driven with a mcl/ml convertor or a beolink passive. Instead of buying a whole new music system
Cheers Nick

True! But, since the cost of buying a used BL Passive is in the vicinity of an Overture, which would also give me the possibility to play local radio/cd etc in the bedroom, I think that's the better option. And the Overture would look nice on the wall.
Thanks, though!
no problem, in the uk on ebay you can pick up a beolink passive around £100 and an overture is around £300. In Sweden prices must be considerably different.
I agree that your overture would look nice wall mounted, I prefer the look of the large clamper version but thats my personal preference.

For A.OPT 5 / 6 Ouverture needs software 2.1 or higher - very old ones have to be updated.

Please post it again on the FLASH thread

Johan I am curious Why are you running cat7 and not masterlink ? Cat 7 is easy to terminate with rj45s (when you get used to it) but have you a wiring plan for the ml plugs ?

The BL Passive is more like £200 here, and several times I've seen Overtures in that price range or less.

Well, that's some crucial information, right there. Thanks a lot!

Really just to be able to use it for other things as well. At the moment I have no idea how to wire the ML plugs, I haven't come that far yet. Any pitfalls?
I might just buy those cables if it turns out to be too tricky to get right.

If you ever spot a bargain in the uk i would be happy to send it on to you if you want (obviously if you cover costs)
