Hi,
After the Beomasters 6000, 8000 and 4400, I finally found a Beolab 5000 amplifier, sans Beomaster, working with intact lettering.
A nice project I guess! I suppose some work will still be required, and my pockets aren't deep enough to send it over to Frede!
As you can see, there are a few things to do. How do you get rid of those tuner feet imprints? There are a couple of missing screws underneath, and a few rusty ones that won't do. Does Frede make a screw kit? Maybe he does, maybe he does... The unit is in full working order. Now I need the matching tuner (in rosewood)... Damn. New photos when I open it! This is a copy-paste of the future old forum! Jacques

Well I couldn't erase the tuner footprints, even with white spirit and linseed oil.
However, the amp works great, it really does, on a par with the Beomaster 4400! I'm soo happy! The sliders have no play and are silky smooth in their movements. No funny noises, nothing. Beautiful music!
The workbench? Not so sure now...
I have a great minty bl 5000 - but nothing to plug into it :-(
Here with Beogram 4000.
I have been listening to this set for a few days now. It trounces my Beosystem 5500 and my Beosystem 8000 sonically. Maybe I like a bit of euphony!

I too have both - and both restored by Frede. I think that they are both great but I think the 4400 is slightly more controlled with low bass. I also think the 5000 is slightly brighter but I would be hard pressed to tell the difference in a real world situation. I think both a well made with the Beolab 5000 being the better of the two in this regard. I prefer the rear fitting leads of the 4400 though.
I have a 4401 and like it - the black 5000 system Frede has is something else!

Fully overhauled! New caps everywhere, everything adjusted as per SM.
Don't get me wrong, it does sound excellent, but that Beolab!

Hope i'm continuing where i left off in the old forum...
So accessing the level pots from the bottom: no option either: the pcb is too big, can't flip or be removed it seems, it's all wired without connectors to the Din sockets etc, so i guess that's also no option...

There's a slight problem with the migration of user credentials from the old forum and it's still being worked on - meanwhile, I fixed your membership level so you should now have all the permissions needed

You have to start adding your pictures in the upper right corner of the screen where your name is " Signed in as member xxxx".
Click on it and that's where it all starts Paul. Took me half a day to find out.....and with the help from Jacques! Mind those little arrows that you have to click on as well!

Update!
Ok, another try...uploading pics seems back.
So this is the PCB with level pots, it seems impossible to me to exchange these pots without completely ripping up the amp...or ??
Have you tried pulling out the complete fascia panels?
What do you mean ?
Frontpanel alu part isvfairly easy but behind that there's another metal panel.
To remove that, the slider pots have to be removed (if i remember correctly), and....no connectors, lots of wires.
Than there's still the switch mechanics over the level pots...:(

Yes Olly, I agree.I just replaced the rubber feet.
