Think we need a speculation thread for 2018. What I have read and heard, there will not be a very exciting year for B&O when it comes to product launches.

I hope to be wrong.

This is my take on this:

Sound systems:

What I have heard (not confirmed) is that there will be no new music system 2018. Core will be the only option here.

Wireless Bluetooth speakers:

I don´t think there are any obvious "gaps" in the lineup. Assume Airplay 2 will be introduced by fw update where possible. Voicecontrol may be added as new versions of e.g. BS 1 & 2. New colors for the spring / summer?

Shape seem to be marketed really hard. Maybe something new based on that concept?

Televisions:

No indications of a new TV this year, as far as I have heard. Maybe new panel for Eclipse?

Speakers:

Quite complete lineup I would say, but I miss a replacement for BL3.

Headphones:

Also a complete range. New colors for sure. Cannot see what is missing there.

Lets speculate Smile

I would think the new C8 LG panels on the Eclipse,

And there is a 77" version of C8, so...

An S8-esque full-on affordable 5.1 system would be great for me. Already use the BL14, but I think there was more opportunity for success in that arena. I guess you could just buy two of them, which leaves the issue of a center channel if I don't have a B&O TV

The BeoPlay SS18 colours should be announced in the next few weeks - surely that's major release news?

The ‘Beoplay P6’ is the next Bluetooth speaker to be announced soon in the Beoplay-range.

And if you want a preview, go down to the hardware store that sells paint, look over the paint chips, pick the three oddest and ugliest colors you can find, that'll probably be the new Play color palette. Stick out tongue

I’d like one of those with wireless sub option and wireless rears options a la Bose. They may not “want” to do it but it’s a good idea and they sell.

There is still room in the BL14 surround sound arena.

Just on the colours, the “seasonal” colours in fashion are worked out years in advance, so it will be a known colour.

I do like the harmonies collection colours, however don’t like the name ‘harmonies’

I hope for a replacement of the Beolab 6000! Many dealers I talk to feel the same way.

It seems my posts aren’t coming through

I also hope for a sound bar. B&O probably don’t want to do it, but the market does. A lot of people shop for the Bose Sound Bar wireless sub and wireless rear speakers.

There is also a lot of room and opportunity still in the BL14 surround sound, which i think they departed too soon (mainly cos i would have bought one now haha)

Any chance of a new ashtray, perhaps?

B&O produced ashtrays from the 40s and into the 80s.
A new one is long overdue.

I never smoked, truth be told, but it would be a new B&O product I would want to have, if for nothing more than merely adding to my collection.

Please please make a replacement for the Beosystem 4 with 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos etc.

AUD 15k for a 55inch TV IS quite a big call for many people but 5-7k for a surround sound audio visual processor with a great universal elegant remote isn’t that uncommon. B&O version of the Samsung micro LED wall would be prohibitively expensive.

B&O has all the core tech so chopping off the display wouldn’t be much of a technological issue.

I love the B&O remote/integration but I can’t justify or pay for B&O pricing of the display size I want - 100inch+

How about a new golf bag. I won one at the prize draw here that I gived to my scottish uncle, he may need a new one.

Not to mention a B&O tie and assorted cufflinks for 2018. Trouble free.

A better customer service (or an actual one to begin with), product support and or actually having products that have all the features they’re sold with. Sorry, iam really annoyed at them atmSuper Angry

The ideas of a Beosystem 5 are all good, but it’s unlikely it will happen.

my idea, as its listed separately in the price list, would be for the sound Center if the eclipse to be sold separately, speaker and all. You have an AV processor that can be seen, mounted to the wall..

A true replacement for the V1-40 is sorely needed.

The 48" Horizon is literally three times the price, and is most definitely not three times the better TV.

And for a 4k TV it doesn't feature HD10 or Dolby Vision - both glaring omissions for a 'state of the art' 4k TV.

For what the V1-40 cost, it featured outstanding design and materials and with a feature set that made it remarkable VFM.

And as such, complete with active centre speaker array, a state of the art SS module onboard, and B&O's renowned Vision clear picture technology it was an affordably priced but superb gateway into the AV world of B&O.

A replacement in the B&O/Beoplay portfolio is sorely needed.

Cheers

John..

Maybe they don’t launch another “cheap” TV because it will show how “expensive” the others are when the feature set is not much different (anymore). It will just mean the gap between the cheapest and the other is too wide is what I mean more.

I did love the V1 and do agree that a better structured range is a great idea.

I would not be surprised if B&O stopped developing new Beovisions. Surely, if they launch a "soundbar", as some in this thread indicate, I cannot see how they could justify also developing new Beovisions. I think the amount of people that would pay the premium of having "all in one package" for a product in a technology market that move so fast are not that many. That is the main problem for Beovisions as I see it.

I hope I´m wrong though.

Never in a million years will this happen - B&O partnered with LG for a reason, you know! LG now handle all the picture-processing, 4K support, panel and so on. As that's what they do best. B&O is focussed only on the audio part of future TVs. If they start producing an updated BeoSystem 4, with 4K, HDR, all the latest standards....they might as well just licence the OLED panel from LG.

Remember, B&O ditched most of their picture-processing department in 2017.

I have a BeoSystem 4 with my BV12-65, but there's no way B&O is bringing a new updated version. They don't have the department, know-how or, frankly, inclination.

You are right in the sense if Beosystem 5 should be as Beosystem 4.

But Who needs Picture processing?

A beosystem 5 same as beosystem 4 but without tv tuner, and processing, just for sound and Picture pass through.

This is then the sound Centre from the Eclipse. This is what I have said from the outset, sell the Sound centre let people provide their own TV.

A cynic would say that selling the soundcentre on its own would deny B&O a very healthy mark-up on selling through someone else's TV.

I think picture processing is less important than it used to be. Today, most processing seems to be there to make up for inadequacies in the panel performance, mainly motion processing on LCD/LED sets. Now that most sources are 1080 or 4k, I think by and large the video quality is good enough not much is called for. In the past, you had upscaling 480p DVDs to 1080, video tapes and laser discs that weren't exactly ultra high in video quality, etc. I had an HK AVR that had full on Farjouda video processing capabilities, and it could do an impressive job of cleaning up substandard video sources and improving them. Today I have the ability to do that by running things through my Oppo BluRay player but have never felt the need to do it.

On my Panasonic, the out of the box THX Cinema settings are so close to a well calibrated set I've not felt the need to mess with it. Gray scale linearity, contrast/black level, color temp, all are quite good. Not perfect, but not worth changing, at least to me and I tend to be picky.
