Hi All,

I am looking into buying a second hand Beovision 9-50 and I have a few questions:

- What the difference between Mk I, Mk II and Mk III ?

- How long would you expect a plasma to last? is it deteriorating badly after a few years compared to LED and LCD?

- Is it worthwhile getting a Bv 9-50 if I can get a Bv 10-46 for just a little more money? is that a better choice?

Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this..

Thanks

Peter

Following this thread with extreme interest. Always always wanted one of these (and still do). Without a doubt it is my favorite TV (beovision or not) but unfortunately it is not going to fit in my next apartment. Sometime I WILL own one and I'm worried that by the time all the circumstances align, the TV will be too old to bother with.

Beo4 'til I die!

Hi Peter,

My BV9 is a MkIII one:

Full HD and ACM (little camera which calibrates the screen every 200 hours).

Bought new on mid-2007, still strong and healthy.

I really appreciate the soft image of this set, far less agressive than LCD, more "Cinema" experience.

The built-in speaker matches my BL5 very well.

Integrated with a Moment, a BC2, a PS3 and a Tvix through NL/ML converter, all work flawless in all my rooms.

To be short, I'm really happy with this true B&O set... and no software troubles!

Kind regards,

Yann

Thanks Beoandy! :)

It was a typo.. I meant to write 10-46. sorry about the confusion! :)

Thanks for letting me know the difference between the generations. Didn't even know there was a Mk 5...

/Peter

Thanks YannChris.

Good point there.. I have read a lot about all the software issues on Bv10 and 11..I will use a Apple TV anyways, so no need for any SmartTV features for me. Good to know its still going strong after more than 10 years. and I also enjoy the softer image that also handles a bad signal better it seems. Sometimes the new LED's are sometimes "better" than real life in the picture quality, which makes it fel a bit unnatural..

Thanks

Peter

Do not rule out BV 10 and 11 based on potential SW troubles. I had a BV10 and still have a BV11 and not seen any such problems. This may be confused with BV14 (using Android OS) that was initially plagued with problems.

Agree that plasmas have a nice soft picture.

Just be careful had a friend with bvis 10-46 turned out after changing the chassis and power board it turns out it’s the lcd panel which you can get anymore.
