I have finally got hold of my dad's old beomaster. I have had it fixed by an technician, so it is also working now
The only problem now is that it look tired. It has been stored in the attic between 20 and 30 years. So the wood case is dirty and faded.
Is it enough to use sandpaper and then some oil or is it to fragile for this treatment? The case is made of rosewood.
Hope you can help me in the right direction.
Hi there, and welcome to beoworld.
You can sand it gently with some fine sandpaper if it's very scratched. As you guessed there isn 't that Much material to sand so be carefull. Finish with a hardening Oil and beeswax.
If it's just dirty and not too scratched I would use a 1/1 mix of genuine turpentine and boiled linseed Oil. Give it a good rub with Some fine wirewool while using the mix. Let it dry for 15 min and then buff it with a lintfree cloth. Finish with beeswax. This let it keep Some of it's patina and not make the rosewood as dark as sanding Will.

Is the top of the case just wood veneer?
Veneer, yes.Apprx 0,6-0,8mm thick.

Do you got any advice for removing black spots in the veneer.
From what i have found on the web, Oxalic acid could remove it, but it also bleaches.
Anyone who has experience with this?
