How do I connect 4 Beolab 6000 and a active Mission Subwoofer to a HDMI (Arc) or Optical connection?

No. Not a first timer. Did a lot of research. Also at this nice forum (in Dutch). I have a Loewe (Model from 2008) now and the speakers are connected trough a Detoma Umschaltbox. The center speaker is the original Loewe TV speaker.

I want to buy a Samsung TV (The Frame) with an HDMI Arc and Optical connection.

There is a solution (€ 900,-) to connect the Beolabs but there is no connection for my Mission Subwoofer. A secondlife Sub from B&O is expensive. Then there is the problem of the centerspeaker. I can buy a second life 7.1 center speaker.

Now I am thinking of selling all of it an buy a SONOS 5.1 system. Soundbar, Sub and 2 Play:1

I was looking for a pre-amp system (I don't need an amp) but even this is very expensive. Buying something new is perhaps better but I love those 6000...

Did I try everything? Did I miss solutions? Or do I need to run to the shop and get me a SONOS system and put the speakers on sale... Help!

:-)

I have not tested this device, but it seems to be exactly what you need!

Super! Thank you so much! € 123,- is better :-). Now for the final (and lazy) stupid question.... What converter cables do I need for these kind of plugs?

With this setup I only need a center speaker. I think the 7-3 of 7-1 is a bit of an overkill. Any sugestions what would fit soundwise with the 6000?

Can't you just buy a surround amp with preouts for all channels?

This way you can connect all your beolab 6000's to it with rca cables and also your non b&o sub. With beolab 6000 you don't specifically need powerlink. They also have an rca input.

I did this in my Dutch parents home, to connect 2x beolab 3, 1x beolab 7.2 and 2x beolab 6000 to his new Samsung uhd tv.

I used a marantz sr5011 for this. Connect with HDMI arc, it automatically switches on when you turn on the tv and you can use the tv remote to change volume. Excellent surround sound. Also because you can use the Auddessey microphone to make a correct measurement for your specific setup/room.

Of course you can also use such surround amps for build in things like airplay, spotify connect, etc!

This DOESN'T WORK! Because you can't change volume. So always on MAX volume if you directly connect active speakers, like the 6000's to it.

Are you Dutch? ;-)

Ok. Thnx.

The disadvantage of such a system as the Marantz is that you'll have to pay a lot for things you don't really nead. What I don't need. I just want to play my (still to buy) Samsung TV over the Beolabs 6000. No nobs.. No turn switches. Just when the TV turns on, there will be sound :-).

But I perhaps I want to much.

This also doesn't work. First because everything you want to adjust the (tv) volume, you have to walk towards this box. No remote. And secondly because if you use several different beolab speakers, with different sensitivity levels, you can't adjust this. For example: the beolab 7.1 will sound wáááy louder than the beolab 6000's with the same input level (input sensitivity).

Elke hdmi surround receiver mét 5.1 PREOUTS voldoet in principe.

The Almando Multiplay is quite expensive but really does everything. You can change all the settings with their app on your phone. Settings like volume levels for each speaker. Lipsync. Inputs. Etc.

I read their manual and wow, if you have a non-b&o tv and want to connect it to 5.0/5.1 beolab speakers and also to things like for example an ouverture, a Chromecast audio etc. This is the easiest invisible solution without the need for extra remotes, auto switching, etc.

Yes. I know. But € 900,- is a lot. My 6000 are conected under the floor of my house so I need to use the current cables. And with this Almondo device I can't use my Mission Subwoofer anymore (I think). Secondhand Subs from B&O are nice but... expensive :(

But to sell all my gear and buy Sonos is ofcourse also expensive. I need to make the calculation. Do I go for a easy (selling and buying stuf that is made in 2018) or do I go for an second adventure with the current stuf... :-)

I am sure there is a cable option to use your sub with almando. Check soundsheavenly.com for details.

You can use your sub with the Almando. You just need a rj45 to male rca cable. Costs around 30 Euro.

If you want to/need to use your existing powerlink cables for your 6000's, because all cables are in/under the floor, the almando is also the correct piece of equipment. You only need rj45 to powerlink adapter cables with it.

If you can't swap your powerlink cables for rca (Dutch: tulp) cables, and want to go for my suggested Marantz receiver with preouts, you need 5 sets of special trigger cables: rca to powerlink with 5volt triggering. These trigger cables are quite expensive and because you need 5 of them, the costs will possibility (if you can't find a nice Marantz second and) be the same as an Almando with rj45 to powerlink adapters.

Replacing everything for Sonos is even more expensive and the looks of those ugly play1/play3/play5 speakers are a downside.

Also not a good option in daily usage. Because you don't have a remote and these boxes have a irritating distortion on low levels. A humming sound. I tried one myself on a airport express>beolab 6000, because I wanted the lowest volume setting to be lower... it worked but created a extra humming sound. Tried two of these cheap boxes...

Hi Arje and Beosince98,

I have just had one of these boxes in for testing and it will control the volume, but with one issue - the volume control is "stepped" instead of being continuously variable.  This means that the volume difference between "0" (no sound) and "1" (lowest volume) is very large with Beolab speakers.

Basically the options are:-

1) Another similar 5.1 channel DAC with a better volume control (I'm working on this, please bear with me!),

2) The Almando multiplay (sorry I can't comment on this as the guys at Almando won't answer any of my emails for some reason?)

3) Add an AV receiver with pre-out sockets for full remote control of the speaker volume, plus loads of extra features for sound and picture processing (although this comes at a higher price of around £500 GBP upwards).

If you decide to go for an AV receiver, I would suggest looking at the Pioneer SC-LX59, Denon AVR-X3400, Yamaha RX-A830 or RX-V775 AV processors/receivers, all of which have audio pre-out sockets for easy connection of Beolab speakers for a Dolby surround sound setup.

I am always happy to help with cables and advice, please feel free to click on my sponsor link below to get in touch at any time.

Kind regards, Steve.

What about a Teufel Decoderstation?

I had one in use a few years Ago. I used the headphones out for normal 2Chanell operation and the optical out for 5.1Sound. For 5.1 I had to use the Teufel Remote for Volume but for normal TV the standard Remote is enough...
