I'm looking for a cheap replacement cartridge for my RX2 turntable. I know SoundSmith makes authorized cartridges, but they're too much coin.  It seems like something like this Audio Technica cartridge could work, if only the connector pins were rotated 45 degrees. Any help appreciated!

That will absolutely not work. Beograms are designed only for one type of cartridge, a very high quality high compliance low mass cartridge.

Peter is correct - I'm afraid no other cartridge will fit. Any other cartridge would be of the incorrect mass, and would also look like a dogs dinner!

Audio Origin based in the UK will refurbish (assuming you have one to refurbish) a MMC4 for £129. Yes, it's quite a bit of dosh, but refurbishment is your only option.

Cheers

Thanks for the info. That's too bad - $200 for the cheapest cartridge is just too much for me. I'll keep my eyes peeled on eBay I guess.

The only problem in doing that is that you've absolutely no idea what condition the stylus, the cantilever or the cantilever suspension is in.... The chances are you'll be throwing good money after bad...

Cheers Nigel
