The quality and design of B&O has disappointed me so much in the recent years that, after having ONLY B&O TV and audio systems I decided for a Samsung 75" Qled. Since I did not want to also lose my beloved B&O loudspeakers also bought the Almando Multiplay Surround decoder. The Samsung replaced the Beosystem 3. It is very strange after using the same BEO4 remote for more then 20 years I suddenly have use something else.
The Samsung is in many aspects a relieve:
- The Samsung no gap wall-mount, easy installation clear instructions and extremely easy to put the TV on/in the wall mounting
- Wiring, less wires, very thin wire between screen and box
- no more setup box(s) Sat receiver (HD sat integrated) or even Apple TV necessary
- Picture quality perfect
- Alamando: plug and play easy app to precisely adjust speaker volume etc
- After connecting all wires everything just worked no need of B&O technician!
- Price app half of a B&O 65" Eclipse

I second this.
QLED is way less in quality then Oled.
Contrast of OLED way better.
Looking now at the Bild 5 with almando and beolab 18 speakers.
Seems a good combo to replace my bv7 40" tv
BeoNut since '75
But like MM says 'There is a TV - and there is a BV"
Beofan with current setup Beovison Eclipse 55, Beosound 35, Beolab 6000, Beolab 11, Beoplay A9 Mk4, Beoplay E6
elephant:If the OP is happier with a big screen rather than a smaller OLED (B&O or Loewe) it is his choice. We should applaude him for integration of his BeoLabs ! BeoNut since '75
Fidse:OLED isn’t more expensive than QLED. And it doesn't have to be a Loewe OR a B&O, to be an OLED
At that size (and at this time) it is: An LG OLED 77" (77G7P) is about USD10000. A Samsung 75" QLED (QN75Q9F) is about USD7000. And last year's model (QN75Q7F) is about USD3300!
Part of the difference is current popularity, leading to limited availability of the 77" OLED, and discounting of the Samsung. The reasons why are outlined above... but at that price differential, I might "make the sacrifice" too.
Beofan67: But like MM says 'There is a TV - and there is a BV"
Or you could say: There is expensive, and there is overpriced!
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Surely, though how many products come an open invitation to joining the beta software club? Important now there are so few dealers and technicians and you will avoid customer service. Complain straight at the engineers who designed it. Perhaps posting that on B&Os Facebook page would help enrollment at BeoWorld too?
Hello Guys, thanks for your comments
Of course I know the difference between QLED and OLED, checked out the LG range aswell. But personally I find the OLED colours to bright. As long term B&O fan (still have a BV10 and BV 7-55, and all other goodies) it was with pain in my hart to make the switch. But after my last B&O purchases (Moment and Beosound1) and having only software issues I have given up. If B&O would have build a nice state of the art Beosystem 5 I would definitely have bought it. Anyhow I now have a TV which works and I can still listen to my beautiful speakers!
With most tv's great and bad the picture normally looks great until you compare them side by side. Who cares how the contrast looks if you're watching the news or a comedy show.
Where you notice it is either really:
1) Sports where the refresh rate and contrast help you keep track of things. Tennis, golf and cricket are especially noticeable because you have a small fast moving ball and it's so much better to watch on a high quality screen
2) If you watch dark films then you really appreciate the blackest blacks and detail in dark shadowy scenes.
I was going to add a paragraph or two here but instead I'm going to start a new thread actually, asking for people's recommendations

Before we bandy words like "crap" can we wait until we've heard from members who have personally seen a properly calibrated or set up Samsung along side the Eclipse playing the same content in the same ambient conditions at the same time?
Who will start?
There are opinions and there are Beofan opinions!
Ban boring signatures!

Fidse:Not side by side, but both in blacked out rooms
I don't know but does the majority watch TV in a blacked out room? I don't and maybe in 'normal' viewing conditions the differences between OLED and QLED are not that huge. I watched many times OLED TV and although the blacks are impressive, I find the colors a bit too artificial (too vivid and not very natural to my eyes).
Fidse:I have seen both OLED and QLED calibrated. Not side by side, but both in blacked out rooms, playing much of the same content. And it’s not because I’m a beofan. The Eclipse is my first ever B&O item, besides a pair of headphones 10 years ago. I would have never bought a Beovision if they had’nt put an OLED panel in it. Once i owned my first OLED, there is just no way I’m ever going to be happy with LCD/LED. My OLEDB6 was also the first ever tv i was happy with, after my Pioneer 9050 died on me. Perhaps “crap” is a harsh word, but my honest opinion is, that QLED is nothing but a glorified LED tv, and not even a very good one. So, to summarise, you haven't compared his exact TV model to an Eclipse playing the same content in the same ambient conditions at the same time.

Congratulations on buying a product that's not completely developed or tested or finished! We hope you enjoy your new experience as an unpaid beta tester! Hey, at least you are a beta tester, consider those poor fools we stuck with being alpha testers...
Perhaps B&O finds it much cheaper to let their customers be beta testers rather than adequately test their s/w before product release?

Congratulation with your new tv, when going for 75" your options are limited, and size do matter :)
But I dont understand some in this forum will try to deny that a OLED is much better then any LCD.
When you have first had an OLED you will never consider to move back to LCD.
And I have had my Eclipse now for 2 weeks or so, and not beta tes complains from my view.
Yes more stuff will be nice, and off cause Mybuttons should work. But in generel the Eclipse can do much more then the Avant and do it better and faster, so yea the eclipse is worth a buy.

Waiting for the MicroLED tv’s to come - in 2020/21 ;-))))

There is a tv - and there is a BV
And not just from Samsung....

# Fidse: no harsh feelings!
I agree comparing prices and QLED vs OLED is for me; at least irrelevant. I am happy with the screen quality and this solution fits the best in my living room setup.
just nice weather today here in Belgium

I have done the A/B comparison.
7-55 mk II (technically a Samsung LCD) vs C7 OLED, - side by side, same source.
Obviously not 4k...
But staying away from the pitfalls like Channel logo and black and white end credits, its really down to image processing, and at least for fast moving sports, the BV might just have the edge.
One thing is for sure on standard HD material its a very close call, coming down to personal preferences.
# Fidse, correct with this setup a Beosystem 5 with just a screen would have been perfect, but the Eclipse is not possible.
elephant:Beovox141 that is interesting ... Did you compare some of the movies in the thread that was started this weekend ? - avatar - blade runner - fifth element - gravity
Did you compare some of the movies in the thread that was started this weekend ?
- avatar
- blade runner
- fifth element
- gravity
Yes, Avatar and Gravity is always the top picks, and I added Tintin to the list in the thread.
And since it is a TV,- DVB-T and S.
Unfortunately, I do not have a good 4k source (awaiting a "suitcase" delivery) I can't really say how much that will change the overall "picture"
elephant:Nice setup Raeven ! Great photo - how you got the sunlight stripes on the wood !
[[Yes, but how he must have winced and prayed to the tree when drilling the cable hole and bracket fittings... Not only bookmatched on the wall, but when sliced across the cabinet doors too! Is that engineered, like Abet Laminati, or raw veneer from a custom furniture maker? Beautiful photo & beautiful result; wish I could see the speakers out in the room too! OK, sorry to veer off; back on topic:]]
This photo shows how important the size actually was, in this particular installation, and the aspect ratio, too: His only reasonable choice in the B&O line would have been an Avant-75, not an Eclipse-65.
I have a Beosystem 4 which drives a Sony A1E. I also have an Oppo UDP-203 which has two HDMI outputs one of which is Audio Out Only. The Audio Out Only goes to the Beosystem 4 (Super Easy to install and configure on Beosystem 4) and the other HDMI feeds the Sony A1E. Watched Disney's Coco in 4K UHD last night, picture and sound were spectacular.
Absolutely gorgeous installation, beautiful wood. Definitely need not only a large set but one that doesn't have a lot sticking down below it (as in the Eclipse) so it isn't mounted too high. I've never understood how people can watch TVs mounted over fireplaces and such, I'd get a sore neck looking up all the time. Center of the screen should be either at or only slightly above eye level for a seated viewer.

And how do you use or more specific listen to the app’s and the tuners of the Sony?
Maybe you only use the Sony as a monitor, or?
I primarily use the TV as a monitor. I have a Chanel Master DVR+ which is plugged into the Beosystem 4 for 98% of my OTA TV viewing. I don't stream movies but I have on rare occasion have viewed You Tube utilizing the TV's speakers. The TV will default to its internal speakers when it doesn't detect the Beosystem 4 HDMI port active. Its active when using the Oppo or DVR+. When pulling new HDMI cables for 4K I removed an optical cable that I had previously installed years ago. If I had left the optical cable installed I could have also fed that back to the Beosystem 4 but I haven't missed not having it. Should I get into streaming I will probably buy a Roku, streamers are like a dime a dozen anymore and would have preferred Sony not waste their time on having them built in as its just something else to go wrong.
The Oppo has an HDMI in which I believe will support 4K UHD via certain streamers so the video could go to the TV and audio to the Beosystem 4.

Much the same as how I use my Panasonic, albeit I don't use any Beo gear with it. But, I had to use the TVs internal app for Amazon Video for a while, and ran an optical cable to the Marantz receiver I use, since at the time Apple TV and Amazon weren't playing nice with each other. You could get an Apple app for Amazon Video for the iPhone and iPad, but not the Apple TV. Late last year they finally kissed and made up, so all streaming I do is through the Apple TV now. I occasionally think about going with a Beosystem 4 or even 3 but as long as the AVR I have continues to work I am happy with the results. I tried using an AV7000 for a while years ago to merge my B&O music system with my AV system, what a horrid experience. The AV7000 is not a very good product sonically IMO, once I split them again I've not looked back. As you say, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, lots of options for streaming boxes.
I had great luck with an AV7000. One of the most sonically memorable moments for me was using the AV7000 with a Pioneer Laser Disc player playing "Strictly Ballroom" and the Paso Doble dance as the Father's shoe heels struck the floor. The dynamics were incredible in my system. As things when Dolby Digital so did I and for years had trouble getting something to match those dynamics.
Note (if someone not already know this): the AV7000 was never sold in Europa - was for the North American market.
