I connected my Beomaster 5500 to a pair of Beolab 3000's, using the four-prong connector. I don't have the MCP so I'm using a Beolink 1000 to control the 5500. I have adjusted the settings on the Beolab 3000 in all possible configurations but no sound. (They are plugged in, connected to the mains and the little red light is on.) I used the front panel phone jack to confirm that the 5500 is working.
I note that of the two pairs of speaker plugs in the 5500 only one is for a 4-prong speaker connection. Is it possible that the 5500 is powering the other pair of speaker jacks? is it possible to select the other pair of speaker jacks using the Beolink 1000?Thoughts?Thank you, Jonathan
If you press the MUTE button repeatedly do you hear a relay clicking? It could be that the relay is sticking (or even that the BM5500 is MUTEd). The mute function does not effect the headphone socket, as far as I know, so that would fit with your findings.
The other speaker jacks are for link systems (round the house) and should be live all the time, regardless of the MUTE status.
... and is the VIDEO/AUDIO/OFF switch on the side of each speaker definitely set to AUDIO?
Yes, when I hit the MUTE button the 5500 clicks and a red light illuminates on the panel.
Are you saying that the two-pin jacks (which I am not using) are live all the time?Jonathan
I had no idea that switch was there. I moved it to the center, AUDIO, position and it works. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
