I hope we have some Beoworld awards this year ,,, you know what I mean ? where we all get to nominate / vote for the best Beoworlder for one or more categories.

So it case Lee needs reminding (or is it me, I can't recall if we had one last year) of our important equivalent of the Oscars, BAFTA, and Cannes Smile I am kicking off this thread but simply recognising some recent, not so random, acts of kindness and hope that we have a ceremony where they get duly recognised as being among the best of the best:

  • Leslie ... for frequently dipping into his stash and helping out fellow Beoworlders with various odds and ends
  • Vienna ... for always being so knowledgeable (and patient with the rest of us) on esoteric details that solve problems or provide new solutions
  • Rich ... for donating a Beogram to Evan - a wonderful act and gift

And of course Evan's tales of Gunther's unit  - perhaps there should be a price for the luckiest Beoworlder, being Evan.

And if had a "rookie" or "newbie" of the year prize, we would have nominated Evan in the past, put perhaps this year it is Bob ?

And then there are people like Keith who just keep things running, Lee who organised and then orchestrated the Struer visit, Puncher who keeps the WedThread alive, and so on ... so many special, quiet achievers (well maybe not Puncher Wink)

Anyway, you get the idea, and there are many, many wonderful contributors here - the value of the voting process is that it reminds us all of those "acts of kindness", generous hours and wonderful advice, that we might otherwise forget.

So hopefully not offended anyone - but rather encouraged you all, to think back over the past 10 months, and recognise one another.

Surprise - sounds like great idea -

I would say just that Martin belongs to Hall of fame (suppose that not even himself can keep count how many he helped to date)

The problem with the voting for different sections and the voting was, if I remember right, the few voters, and the same valuable members always been voted for. When it comes down to members being very active on the forum, we are relatively few, and these relatively few are also the voters, and also the voted for.

I think that was more or less the reason why it was abandoned. But I like the Idea, maybe if the moderators choose 2,3 or 4 members and a small gift was made for these, or Lee just make his pick.

The frequent members helpfulness and contributions are incredible on this forum, everyone is helping within his means.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

As much as anything, I simply wanted to express MY admiration for some recent acts by some wonderful people -- and hopefully inspire others to be generous with their praise.

I did not mean to burden Lee financially !

And I agree Martin / Dillen is a wonderful guy (he helped me with my Beocord 5000 waaaay back in 2004 (I think it was)), so I agree there are many deserving of thanks -- in fact let me say "thank you everyone" because everyone helps make this forum a special place.

Thank you for your lovely words and thoughts, what you said does make me feel included Wink

Beside  I don't think it would have to be of extreme monetary value (personalised mug or some other useful things such "certificate" - perhaps even a section of the forum itself (annual award board or something) will make all the best guys here feel at home once more Whistle

P.S. Have good weekend and week (all of you in fact) Cool

We did run the Beoworld awards for some time! It has to be said that the voter turn out was not stupendous! However if there is sufficient support, I am sure we could do it again - maybe we should have a poll to see how many voters we would get! And we need a level at which it is worth doing! I'll sort something out!

Dear friend,

thanks for the "honorary mention"!

Indepenent of a Beoworld Award, I'd strongly suggest, ALL OF US should use the "VERIFY ANSWER" BUTTON
a bit more frequently.

It's an easy way to show acknowledgment and is helping others to find "proven hints & tips" more easily.

PS: Some members "verify" their own posts -
IMHO this can only be "valid" if someone can prove  Smile
to suffer from schizophrenic disorder ...

I agree - though some people use the verify key to verify funny or sarcastic comments of their own which means the post rises to the top. Not really what it is for. I very much agree with the setiment though!
