Just seen on instagram a new post from Beoplay. Says SS18 coming soon, and then the caption underneath  is "Makes Waves. Tomorrow. Stay Tuned"

mrCTE:

So underwhelming.

You might say so.

Why not just get used to the fact that choosing from different colours is important for a lot of people, when they buy gadgets.

And that B&O indeed take this into account.

Not sure I agree or what you're expecting? BeoPlay releases these SS and AW colour schemes every year - that's what they are. They aren't product releases. Just colours/shades to reflect the season.

Personally, I quite like some of the green shades.

B&O used to stand for Style, Technology, and Quality. With Style also came Personalisation. So I do understand and accept your point. There is also a quote called "all sizzle and no steak". Maybe more products and colors doesn't do that much for greatness? I was actually excited to see what cool product would an SS18 be, like 2 x A9, a chair and a seatbelt Smile

That's the point I struggle with as my old B&O "just works" in a simple and human way, and my Essence 1's are left behind and require a lot of baby-sitter. So the Company move on to different customers. Sometimes it is better to move on and part friends, but the products purchased for a big price should still function.

Over here the saying is "all hat and no cattle." Denoting fake cowboys.

But, nothing says "we're really a competent AV company, not just a stylish good looking but mediocre performing company" like relying on twice a year releases of new colors to keep sales up. Stick out tongue Way to prove that opinion by others wrong eh?

By the way, in my line of work SS18 calls up images of the SS18 "Satan" Russian nuclear tipped missile.

I just placed my order for a P2 in teal! I love the new colors, but I really don't need a FIFTH A1. It would be nice to see some seasonal colors for the A6 frets.

Do please post a pic of it in real life.

And of course you need a fifth A1, what if the other four break?

Offering different colour options is not new to B&O - and nothing that has just started with the B&O Play range of products.

Indeed. Fir a company renowned in part for their emphasis on design it is essential.

When the difference was anodised aluminium there was a strong argument. That ended many years ago and was very limited upgrade to silver. Today it is matte aluminum, colored plastic, and cloth covers. Performance is essential and color is nice to have. BTW, yesterday and today my Essence 1 will not play Tune In radio (only), but it is white. Maybe if it had been Sea Foam?

ROFL SeaFoam! :D

Seriously now, as Beojeff wrote - would be really nice to also get A6/A9 seasonal cover offer, what’s the point of interchangable covers if there are no new colors?

Blimey B&O just can’t win. Half the folk on here say they should be focusing on things other than new colours. Then they get criticised when there are no new colours for the A6 and A9.

Not Fair! Not Fair! Big Smile The word for me is AND, not OR. A9 is such a statement I would want to have 10 or more covers, just for fun. That would go great with a product that has fantastic performance, good technology, and doesn't break for silly reason. Then you have to pay a very premium price for all that and it make sense.

Different leather color earpads or plastic case is very different idea and probably causes discount houses to offer them for huge discount when it is time to pick a new shade, like Prune Danish.

When their products mainly just worked, a few extra colors were a nice option. These days, it's a frivolous distraction from the fact the products are buggy and unreliable, and in most cases unrepairable.

Oh, poodleboy, are you referring to MM as a prune Danish? I think the proper term would be Danish prune! Stick out tongue

Was using my natural color Beoplay P2 at work, coworker walks over and says “that sounds nice”, picks it up and says “oh this is nice” I told them to check out the Beoplay website. Front page, with the new colors. They say, “oh I love the teal!” Opens amazon to compare prices -$20 but no teal. They then bought the teal from Beoplay site right there.

If that wasn’t a demonstration of B&O giving people what they want in sound, tactile appeal and style and then special colors, I don’t know what is.

Just upload your own picture or any color you wish, and have unique colors / covers for A6 / A9:

https://www.skiniplay.com

Now THAT's customization, seasonal or otherwise.

Beovirus victim, it's gotten to be too much to list!

So you are unhappy with the concept of an impulse purchase for a £200 Bluetooth speaker.

If you’d prefer to have your lack of confidence in humanity restored, I can ask them for their latest streaming playlist and I can pass that along to you Smile

I was merely implicating potentially lost opportunity for incremental sales with products that are (unlike any of the bluetooth speakers) specifically designed with color-customization in mind. :) B&O army to the rescue.
