Dvd problem with Avant 32 DVD

Hi guys,

My avant 32 Dvd shows "blocked !" On the tv display whenever i try to start a dvd.

The dvd tray opens and closes as normal.

 

Any ideas?

I don't remember encountering this on an Avant, but the DVD1 has a parental block that can be set in the options that would cause a similar effect. DVD1 requires a PIN to deactivate the lock. I think the Avant had Philips or Panasonic DVD mechanisms that may have a parental lock or block in the software even though it may not appear in the options. Could also be a country code recognition fault. All speculation on my part ...... ! Graham

i dont think it has a parental lock at least i have not found it and i have been looking around in the service menu as well.

i did "region free" it.  Any way i can "reset" back to region 2?

btw i have a Avant dvd MK2, not sure if it has the Panasonic or Phillips dvd drive.
