No on the last point. I'm in the SF Bay area in California; shipping for two lamps is $30. There's a preposterous amount of tax, of course (~ $11).
(Oops, sorry, I'm sheltering at "An Undisclosed Location", so shipping here must cost more. Seemingly, they differentiate store-local vs. across the country, unlike most retailers... Edit: Relative to the post below, it's 50% cheaper to ship to Minneapolis than Menomonie! Go figger.)

The NanoLeaf folks emailed me a promotion for the ‘Hex’ just a few days ago. It looks plastic-y and gimmicky and I’m sorely temped.

Yep. They started with triangle shapes, moved on to squares, now hexes. The tiles are touch-sensitive; apparently you can program games and patterns that reflect whatever music is playing...
